    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

What lies within the forest [Venge]
    #1

    Diarmuit

The forest was quiet. A cool breeze swept past the trees, stirring the leaves and causing a quiet but audible rustle. The moon was out that night, shining brilliantly but unseen by those beneath the forest canopy. Only bits and peace’s of its pale light seeped between the millions upon millions of leaves. But it wasn’t enough to light the forest below. It was dark with shadows at every corner. Who knew what lurked amongst the trees, unseen by all whom walked beneath the forest canopy. But Diarmuit did not find any room in his heart for fear nor worry. He had large wings he relied on to lift him up and out of harms way if need be. His legs were strong and powerful, allowing him to give any attacker a few affective blows that would surely cause serious damage. Besides, he was drawn to dark places.

In fact, he was comforted by the dark. Night was his favorite time because it always felt so nostalgic for some reason. Whenever he gazed at the stars, or looked at the moon, he would often times have visions. He would see a young black foal with wings -obviously it was him- and another horse. He couldn’t tell whether they were male or female; even their appearance was a blur in his mind. All he knew was that they too were black as a raven’s wing, and they had the most magnificent wings he’d ever seen. Every time he attempted to get more details the vision vanished. It was like a distant memory. Funny, even the only memory he seemed to have wouldn’t allow him to remember anything. No details, no names, no connections. Only the almost overwhelming feeling of happiness he felt with that other horse. There was so much he wanted to know. Who were they? What were they to him? And where did they go? Unfortunately the little he knew wasn’t enough to find the answers he sought. And he felt the more he tried to learn the secrets of his past, the more he became lost. After years of traveling on this circle of a path, he was beginning to question whether he’d ever get any answers.

But, his reasons for being in the forest actually weren’t related to his amnesia. No, he was there for an entirely different reason. He was searching for an old friend, the only one he knew since his memory loss. He’d heard that they were somewhere in Beqanna, but where, he didn’t know. When he was younger, it was that friend that helped him with his problems. And now, he was there to help them settle into their new life. He figured having an old friend nearby would make things easier to settle down. Besides, from what he’s seen so far, Beqanna appeared to be a nice place. So perhaps he’d stay a little while himself.

A certain darkness is needed to see the stars
