    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    A Strike Of Time -[Any]

She was young and curious, she was older now and did not need to be protected by her parents. It was time to venture out and run into other members of the kingdom, to explore the land and really get to know everything it has to offer.

She left Loess once with Delta and visited the playground, it was interesting but no story worth sharing. As she grew older she would have to decide her path, would she stay in Loess and become a member? Or she could make a fresh start for herself in a new kingdom, one were her parents did not create a path for her. And of course she could be a nomad, but what did she want? She was not fully sure yet, but she would settle on meeting a new face.

She pranced into the open field of the kingdom, there were plenty of mountains ahead of her, essentially acting as a barrier from the other kingdoms. Behind her in the distance was a forest, it led into Sylva, she did not want to venture out there just yet. She raised her head allowing a whinny to escape, maybe there was other foals in Loess! Foals that were not related to her! She leaped at the thought, her body broke into a gallop as she swiftly flew through the meadow hoping for the presence of another.

Sawtooth refuses to think beyond the current day. If ever asked about the future, she gave a haughty laugh and galloped away. Savage little things like herself did not spare much thought to the coming days - only the current one and what it could bring them.

Like how she is forever lazing among the rocky hills in wolf-form. Or tumbling into the warm springs on purpose, usually.

She was currently drooling and snarling occasionally over a rib. It had come from none other than her own mother. Sawtooth was just sucking it clean of the last scraps of marrow but couldn’t quite bring herself to further crack it open to get at the gristle. So she began to play with the bone instead.

The wolf-pup rolled about and knocked the bone around. Until the thunder of a galloping horse made her sit up and flatten her wolfy ears to her head. Black eyes followed the zippy little folly that zoomed about. Sawtooth stretches and stretched, even yawned before slinking after the foal in a predator’s stalk.

She would have pounced but thought better if it. Big brother might have something to say about her pouncing on his mercenaries’ children. Sawtooth swallowed a sigh and plastered a toothy grin on her face as she ran alongside the speedy girl. “Bee sting your butt?” she couldn’t help but laugh and no, she had no manners - feral children seldom do. “Never seen someone run so fast through here. Too rocky. Might break a leg.”

She was running with little care to her suroundings. The little mane that she had flowed at the roaring wind that stroked her. She heard the chime of another and slide to a halt, her hooves dug into the ground and she turned around to spot a wolf! She nearly bolted off screaming for the help of another kingdom member but when the canine started speaking she figured it was one of these shifting equines she has heard of.

Bee sting your butt? the she wolf teased. Her pastel green pelt flicked to a blush pink, she was gifted and cursed with the color changing trait. She was still learning to control her trait in relation to her emotions, her blush pink grew to a warm red as she snorted a response No! she stomped her hoof in anger as the wolf laughed at her.

She took a deep breath and forced her pelt to shift back to its pastel green color It's not to rocky if you watch were you are going. She glares at the blue wolf you must be clumsy in your equine form. an acquisition she made purlely out of anger, and for disturbing her run. Do you live in Loess? her voice was softer, an attempt to befriend the she wolf. You can only have one first impression but if this canine fixed her attitude Mary could find it to forgive her earlier outburst.

    Oops!
Clearly she’d frightened the filly. Sawtooth conveniently forgets that most of them are not used to a wolf running freely in their midst. Gods what a strange herd they must think this! It’s certainly by no means a conventional pack in her eyes but her brother is more than enough alpha for her to readily obey.

(there’s some debate out still as to whether she actually does obey him or mouths off first)

    Holy rabbit foot!
Sawtooth’s mouth gapes open as the girl changes from pastel green to blushing pink. How interesting! She’s never seen anything like it and circles the filly with a new light in her eyes. Don’t worry! She’s just very very curious.

She was on the verge of asking how the girl did that when she turned the red of blood and anger. Oops indeed! But Sawtooth makes no apology. “You sure?” she needles just a little bit, still laughing through a mouthful of teeth. Clearly the girl gained control and turned herself back to that interesting shade of pale green.

“I’m not clumsy at all. Besides, I fly instead of running.” the black wolf mimics a yawn and looks away for a moment. “Running is so boooorrrriiiinnngggg unless you’re a shifter.” she’s quite the antagonistic little brat. Can’t even blame it on being spoiled - there was no one to spoil her!

But she could see that the girl was trying to recover from her angry outburst so Sawtooth sighed and flopped down into the grass beside her. “I do now. What about you?“

Well, big brother did say time and time again not to eat the residents. Guess she couldn’t be snarky to them all that much either. Sawtooth just didn’t know better. Motherless children tend to run wild.

The she wolfs mouth drops when Mary's pelt changes color, it was not exactly a talent when she did not have full control of it. The canine continues to poke at Mary, she was an interesting equine, a big mouth on this one. Mary opened her mouth to respond but the canine beat her to it, I'm not clumsy, I fly instead of running. A small laugh escaped Mary's own mouth It sounds like you are clumsy! Wolf form or flying? Perhaps hooves are not your style? thought she poked fun her tone was light.

The stranger continues to say running is boring unless you are a shifter, Mary thought it would be fun to be a shifter though she was not. She often times wondered what it would be like to fly, though wings did not run in her family and she certainly did not carry wings. The only interesting feature she had was the ability to change the color of her pelt, at least this one thought her trait was interesting. Perhaps running is an acquired taste, I could show you some time a small laugh escaped her maw once again, I could probably beat you in a race, hoof against hoof.

The ebony wolf flopped onto the ground, Mary's gaze followed to the green floor. I do now she said, Mary tilted her head slightly in confusion. Was she not always a Loess member? It was not odd to change kingdoms in beqanna but her pelt had a heavy scent of Loess, she could not be too new. Mary did not pick at the question, instead she responded to the strangers own question Yes, my father is was the old king, so he says at least. He was not king when she was around, but he tells her stories! Say! Whats your name canine? The stranger could tell her, her name, but Mary might just always refer to her as canine from this point on.
