    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    Blood is Thicker than Water

As he returns to their thicket of lush greenery, his first notice is that Kove has not returned home.  He had given her permission to explore and return to her home cavern so as long as she was home before dark.  The sun had long set and a million stars lit the evening sky, so he paces in worry that something has happened.  Kove was not one to push the boundries set by him.

Karat is there, also a look of unknowing upon her lavender tinted face -worry set in her eyes.  She presses the broad side of her face into his neck, anxiously waiting for their sisters return.  The iron stallion stills and looks out across the slight hill that dots the horizon.  Emerald eyes search for any sign of movement but he sees nothing but a silent night.  Turning his head slightly to view Karat he brushes the lavender forelock from her eyes, "I am sure she is fine... Just running late." He assures his twin with a twisting of his guts.  They have lost so much in these last years, Ketzia, their mother and father.  He could not bare to see another fall.

He is about to tell Karat he is going to search for Kove, but a small gasp that comes from Karats lips and a shimmering in her eye, turns his head to view the incoming glow of light.  He snorts out of caution at what could be shining so close to earth.  It was not a usual red tint that the lava or fire of Tephra produced, but a halo of white light -like that of an angel.

A familiar voice chimes across the still air, and they know who has returned.  Kove had the abilities to harness light but only ever when the sun was present.  She says she has brought a friend, with curiosity they both step out into the open.

Karat calls to Kove and rushes to greet her sister -brushing her lavender muzzle to the periwinkle of the fillies locks.  "Kove, we were worried.  Are you ok?" She questions the girl that stands next to a flattened boulder.  The shimmer of light reflecting off the jewel catches Karats eye. "What is this?" If there was anything in life Karat could love more than family, it would be nearly matched by her love of gems.

Krom is mostly intruiged by the stranger who finds himself escorting their younger sister.  From this distance he can tell the aura of light was coming from the male and not their sibling.  He is ever the protective brother, and so, as Karat qustions Kove, Krom questions the newcomer, "My sister calls you friend, but I have yet the pleasure to meet you.  What is your name, friend?"  His voice is deep -demanding even- to know who has befriended his sister without him knowing of their presence in his kingdom.  A child can easily be misguided in thinking a foe was friend, and so he will be the judge...

    Snout
The young bay and purple mare was estatic that Snout was able to get the odd stone she desired. It really was no big deal...his tusks were good for some things...like dislodging rocks. She squeals in delight, and the high pitch of her voice sends his ears to his dome, searching for any protection from her tone. Yes yes he mutters, patiently awaiting to leave this cave. FINALLY the adventure that he thought would NEVER end, was coming to the end he desired. She was finally bringing him to her brother and he nods his head, a hint of a smile peering through.

He follows her on the journey through the kingdom, when he could barely make out the shape of another the young girl starts screaming out Krom! Karat! . He did not know either, but only one was the king surely? He continues behind the filly, ensuring her safety and looking about for any other equines. His glowing body provided light in the early night. As Kove yells out for the other two, they draw nearer, one was made of armor, truly a sight to see. The other had purple just like Kove...honestly she was gentle on the eyes.

The purple mare is the first to break the silence, she rushes towards Kove announcing she was worried. Snout can only roll his eyes, he knew Kove's siblings would be worried she was out so late. She inquires about her safety, and Snout is almost offended that they would think he would cause her harm. He let it slide, and looks at the stone as the purple mare asks about it. An interesting story that perhaps this one is the sister she got the stone for.

He wanted to listen to the Kove tell the story of the rock, but instead the armored horse approaches, he inquires his name. Snout gives a small dip of his head, the stallions tone was blatantly judgmental and irritation set in Snout. He snorts a response, I found her alone at night, I ensured her safe return. The real question here was why was he not watching her? If he was so worried for her safety would he not keep a closer eye on her? His gaze flicks back to the purple mare who had not introduced herself and he dips his head in greeting to her, a small smile tugs at his maw before falling flat and returning his gaze to the green stallion.

Take Me to the Waters Edge

It felt good to be near my family once again.  They rush towards me with worry and my head slightly cocks in vexation.  They still believe me to be a child who could not fend for myself.  Truthfully, they were probably correct but just as I had snorted at Snout calling me a child, I do the same now.  "Yes I am fine Karat," my focus returns to the stone. I begin to respond with the journey to retrieve it -joy illuminates my features once again.  I release where it was hidden and what it meant to me and I am about to state Snouts actions in the matter when my lavender eyes shift.  I can see that Snout is paying attention until Krom demands answers from him.  Again I snort and turn to my brother, mid-sentence, "Snout helped me get it from the cave and wished to escort me home to my family so I would be safe in the night..."  My voice rises so Krom may hear my words in the passive aggressive manner they were delivered.  They are simply part of my story unless you could detect the underlying irritation in my tone.  I turn to view Snout, if he had been within reach I would press my muzzle into him as thanks, "Thank you Snout.  You are a true friend."

My head dips to the small gem placed so gingerly atop the granite boulder.  A smile warps my features as I gaze upon its shimmering beauty casted by Snouts glow.  "I must put it someplace safe..." I whisper to myself mostly.  My thoughts tranced by its amethyst sheen...

    Blood is Thicker than Water

Both twin siblings can desphier the growing edge of the conversation.  Karat being the first to quiet the arousal by pressing her nose to her younger sisters when she finishes thanking Snout.  Silver-hazel eyes of the lavender tinted mare turn to the glowing bay with a kind smile, "Thank you for seeing her home safely." We cannot lose more family, she wishes to add but holds the bitter thoughts from the gathering.

When Koves head drops to admire her trinket, Karat looks to her iron brother for his reaction.  Krom's view had not left the bay stallion, even as Kove had spoke at him.  He supposes he had no reason to suspect the other of ill intentions, so he softens his tone, "Yes. I suppose thanks are in order.  It was kind of you to bring her all this way.  I know her destination had been to the caverns she had been raised in.  If I had known her visit would have lasted into the night I would have brought her myself..."  His emerald eyes shift as Kove whispers under breath, "She wished for her freedom... I am glad you ran into her though.  I guess an overprotective brother is a fun killer on most occasions."  He chuckles softly as he looks upon the periwinkle locked filly.  The gadgets of his mind turning to an idea for his sisters plea.

A smile is brought to his lips at the thought and he turns in the slightest to face the stone and the girl staring at it.  The fingers of his abilities reach deep into the earths core, widdling out a slim thread of iron amidst them.  He focuses on it and begins shaping it into delicate links.  One by one they form together, a larger piece finding the gemstone and encompassing it so as it will fit snug within the iron locket.  The chains length curls around the fillies neck, the stone settling in the center of her breast.  With a final melding, the jewlery is complete.  "There, now Ketzia will ever remain very near to your heart," the iron stallion simply smiles and turns his head in Snouts direction.  "I do hope you stay in Tephra.  We could use more friends like you," his words sincere as he steps towards his sisters, his emerald muzzle brushing them each, "Lets get some rest."

    Snout
The purple mare thanks Snout for safely returning there sister, he dips his head to her with a small smirk on his maw. At least one of them saw it for what it was, a protector returning the young naive filly to safety; unaware of the cruel creatures that lurk at night. His gaze flicks to Kove you are a true friend she says to him, a statement that would make some equines tickled. Instead he gives a dip of his head don't go out alone next time he responds, his voice was not harsh though, instead it was slightly playful for the young filly.

His gaze flicks back to the armored stallion, his tone was adjusted this time, thanking Snout for his sisters safe return. Snout offers the same respect, a small dip of his head. He notes that Kove wished for her freedom, something he understands, his own twin sister seeked freedom away from Snout. Kromium notes he was glad Snout ran into her, a feeling he also understands, if his sister was this young and alone at night, he would want someone to accompany her as well.

Kromium steps closer to Kove, he says nothing but a smaller armored chest plate is created before his eyes on Kove. In the center lay the stone they recovered together, now Ketzie will remain forever in your heart . An interesting power Kromium holds, his eye flick to the filly surely her face was filled with joy. A small smirk of acceptance grew on his own face, though he remains silent. Once again the king flicks his attention to Snout, I do hope you stay in Tephra in invitation if any to stay here. He nods his head slightly, his gaze flicking back to the older purple mare I think I will stay if not for a home....to see what acquaintances he can make here. With that he steps closer to his sisters, suggesting they head to bed. Snout looks at the trio, it was about time he heads out as well Have a good night, I should head my own way as well. He heads in the opposite direction, deeper into Tephra, before completely out of sight her turns back to the trio see you around Kove a friendly gesture to the filly before completely disapearing.
