She hadn’t let him go off on his own this time; he had snuck away while she wasn’t looking. Thorgal pranced along, humming a tune his mother often sang to him, only this time he was closer to the border with Hyaline. There, more trees stood, where shade was more plentiful. He wasn’t looking for shade, though. The weather was getting a little too cold for that.
“Hello,” he replied, fixing himself to stand more firmly with a soft smile set on his face. “What are you doing here?’ He supposed he shouldn’t be surprised that he would run into his own father. He knew he lived in Nerine, but he saw him only once before, so it was easy to forget he didn’t live elsewhere.
No, he was searching for something special to give to his mother. Whether it be something pleasing to eat, or just a pretty little flower for her to wear, it didn’t really matter to him. He just wanted it to be unique, something they didn’t see everyday. He didn’t know if something like that was around the forest part of Nerine, but he wanted to give it a try. If he didn’t find anything, then he’d look elsewhere.
He stopped every now and then to look around more carefully, then continued when nothing caught his eye. Thorgal was caught up in his thoughts, concentrating too much to notice the presence of another. So when the stallion spoke, he jumped with a surprised yelp. All it took was a brief glance then to recognize the one who had spoken, and he visibly relaxed, letting out a sigh of relief while letting his hair fall flat.
