    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    I'll Leave You Wondering {Any| Titus}

    Zeus

He was the youngest from a long lineage of Rome and Porcia children, many of them have left Nerine and started there own lives. He has heard of Titus and Venus from his siblings, the oldest siblings who were stolen as young children. He comes from a family of sisters and now that he is starting his own life, itched to meet his older brother.

His last known whereabouts was Loess, and that is exactly where the horned stag would go. He was originally born with nothing, the oddball of the family. Though recently the faeries gifted him with a makeover, wings that sprout from his back, horns that peak from his dome and a tail that forked into two points. He was even gifted with minimal self healing, certainly little resemblance to his feline prone family.

The trip to Loess was long, but his new found gift for flying made it seem much faster. As the gold stag gently lands onto the earths core he scans the horizon of Loess, a kingdom that hopefully his brother still resides. A kingdom that he can hopefully call his.

He scans the horizon but sees no one within the immediate area. He steps forward allowing a whinny to escape his maw, echoing through the kingdom. His family was all generally outspoken, and he was no different from the rest. He stands impatiently, awaiting for a sign of life within Loess.

and underneath the layers, I find myself asking what's left
a hollowed out form, the skeleton of a ghost, the pitiful echo of what once was
Loess continues to thrive and entice many from the outside, surrounding lands. They arrive at the borders, itching to learn what secrets are embedded in the rocky hills. Few, in contrast, have abandoned what first Wolfbane then Vulgaris built.

Nonetheless, Loess is brimming with life.

There are fewer restful days as their borders entice newcomers from different directions. Castile, his senses piqued defensively, feeds himself with scents and voices and sights. There’s a scattered mix of familiar and unknown, those being foreign only temporary as he stores them away to find later. What grabs his attention, from his perch on a knoll, is the sand-colored male edging toward the invisible margins of Loess. An odd one, Castile considers with a tilt of his head when his eyes trace the dual horns and forked tail. Although not of dragon blood, he is something interestingly unique that spurs and incites action.

The trek is brief. While the stranger descends, Castile is upon him from the ground, meeting him at the border with curiosity settling across his face. Another lungful of air is swallowed to confirm the unfamiliarity of the male except for the faint taste of Nerine on his skin. Although the northern kingdom will forever hold a piece of Castile’s heart, it is no longer home nor the place he remembers. Mother’s reign ended a decade ago, setting the platform for her successors just as Naga did prior. ”Hello,” he offers, softened merely by the male’s origination, ”What brings you to Loess?” His gaze cannot help to still trace along the oddities while he, himself, shows nothing of his true nature. Even his wings – once a constant thing – have disappeared in this natural body.

He almost appears harmless except for the steely and unyielding look in his mismatched eyes. ”I’m Castile.”

one day it's here and then it's gone,
how are you still holding on?
Times moves regardless of where he stays and goes. He no longer has a purpose that fuels him, but still his body continues to thrive. His heart beats and his lungs breathe the air. But he does not find life and meaning in the world anymore.

He is torn between leaving and staying Loess. The outside world seems to hold more for him than it does within the southern kingdom, but he cannot find the will to leave behind something that has giving him a purpose before. Perhaps he will always be a prisoner to Loess since he kidnapped from the warm confinement of his birth home.

Titus lulls around in the southern kingdom. Today is no different like any other. It is simple and carefree, but deathly boring to the ocelot-shifter. He longs for something to do. A purpose to drive him forward. But he cannot find it. He doesn’t know how to find it anymore.

But today was not like any other day.

The winds send a distant, yet familiar scent his way. It fills his nostrils instantly, bringing back memories he so long ago had forgotten. Images of Nerine flash through his head, and he quickly jumps up. Titus turns his gaze here and there. He looks around for the scent, and it pulls him towards the very edge of Loess.

At the border he meets Castile and a young gold champagne stallion. His nutmeg eyes linger on the younger stallion though. The winged stallion doesn’t speak yet, finding it peculiar to find something familiar yet odd about the horse that stands at the other side of the border.

“Sorry,” he says shaking his head for a moment. Titus turns his nutmeg-eyed gaze from the stranger to the dragon-king. “Castile, it’s good to see you.” He nods with a tilt of his head slightly, but then turns to look at the younger stallion again. “I’m Titus,” he greets, but doesn’t expand further on his suspicion of feeling like he knows the gold champagne stallion. There was something too off about the stallion with the forked-tail, wings, and horns being related to him.

    Zeus

Zeus was not alone for long, though the stallion who approaches him does not match the description of his brother. None the less, he could not have kept up his lucky streak, perhaps though this stag will know where Titus is.

He gives a greeting, quickly following up, questioning his reason for visiting. The Tobiano traces Zeus and a smug grin tugs at his lips, he has to admit that he is truly a sight to see. He is not the norm in the ever crazy Beqanna, though certainly they were lurking around in the shadows.

Before he could respond another approaches, this one has the looks of Titus and so Zeus analyzes him. As the winged stag joins the pair he gives a greeting to Castile before introducing himself to Zeus, Titus.

This was all far too easy, running into his brother so quickly!? His body was rushing with adrenalin, hyped to have found Titus, though he remains calm. You don't say, his eyes remain on Titus. I came to Loess in search of my brother, Titus. His grin grows wider, his eyes quickly shifting to Castile and back to Titus. My name is Zeus, the last born child of Rome and Porcia. He gently rustles his wings, clamping them tight to his back. He looks for a reaction out of his brother.

This newcomer is smug, content to be analyzed and picked apart for his abnormalities. Castile grants him that, scrutinizing him and blinking once to see with slit eyes underneath his unruly forelock. He reads the stranger’s thermal geography, and can nearly feel the heartbeat as it trembles steadily in his chest.

Another blink, and his eyes assume their typical appearance.

Zeus, the foreigner confesses after another moment’s time and smile, but it’s only after Titus has arrived as well. A nod initially greets the winged male followed by a husky, ”Likewise,” before shifting his attention again to Zeus. The man he wanted – the purpose driving him to Loess’ border – is standing in front of him now, forcing Castile in a moot position. Their reunion is between them, and yet he cannot bring himself to leave just yet. Titus has been fairly absent since the shift in monarchy, and here stands a sibling.

In a languid and nonchalant manner, Castile shifts and rests his left hind before finally speaking, interjecting the family function. ”A pleasure,” he adds before a more pressing question comes to mind, ”And will you be staying with us, Zeus? Or is this simply a drop-in?”

He doesn’t remove his gaze from the strangely-familiar golden colored demon. There was too much of a resemblance of someone he might know. It was too good to be true to put his entire trust into being certain this stallion might be some sort of relative of his. Perhaps another sibling? No, that wouldn’t be right. Because why would any of his siblings he doesn’t really know come looking for him.

But he had been quite wrong.

The golden champagne remains clam, but after answering Castile’s question there is a wide grin spreading across the new stallion’s face. Titus quickly reacts with eyes widening and ears flick forward with more curiosity than ever. “I’m sorry, what?” He whispers quietly. Titus doesn’t necessarily understand why any of his family from Nerine would come looking for him, especially after the birth of his younger twin sisters.

Castile speaks, keeping the flow of the conversation moving. Titus isn’t sure how to react right now, but the interjection of the dragon-king gives him sometime to find his words.

“Zeus, huh?” He says finally. Titus didn’t think it was still possible that his parents would send someone to bring him home. So, he finds himself even more curious of why his newly-found brother has come all this way to Loess. “Well, I see mom and dad are still busy.” He says awkwardly, noting how many siblings he has now was quite enough for him personally. A smirk grows on his lips though at that thought. “Did they need something?” He asks, adding onto Castile’s recent question.
