    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Each time he wanders off into the untended depths of the world, he emerges back into something different. Everything is evolving, or devolving at a pace he can scarcely keep up with. Things are much different now, than in the verdant days of his youth. He is aged, and yet ageless all in one. The once dark splotched points of his body have all faded to a silvery white, merging seamlessly with the creamy plumage of his wings. He is no stranger to the Meadow, often visiting in the early hours of twilight when the world is in limbo. The night creatures meandering back to their dens paid him no mind, as the day creatures scampering out into the world regarded him nervously. He watched everything impassively, breaths blowing softly and steadily. A steadfast mountain amidst the winds of change.

Uconn was of a gentle temperament, much like the summer night in which he found himself. The air was warm, and moist, with a gentle buzz of insect wings and crickets cries. The soft bubbling of the stream came steadily from his left, and the scent of wet earth and sweet grass filled his nostrils. He did not graze tonight, he felt as though he were waiting for something, expecting something though he did not know what. He cocked a silvery hind leg and set his eyes upon the soft blinking of the fireflies that danced around him.

The golden maiden finds herself rather lonesome, her family had grown over the years and while she held the responsibility to be there for them she had always been absent during the occurrence of family affairs. So the women finds herself drifting through the inky sky, her wings lifting her to the common lands. It had been quite some time since she's pursued the pleasant exchange of words between strangers, and yearned for company.

She can barely remember the last time she been here, memories flood through every crack and crevice, she remembers her one night stand with Ivar, the pleasantries she shared with others, and her childhood flings with her sister and several other siblings. She had spent so much time here, yet it had felt like eons since she had stepped onto the lush verdant earth of the meadow. The common land is quiet this evening, the summer breeze is warm and gentle as it toils with with her navy mane as she strides forwards, folding her wings neatly against her buttermilk side.

She finds herself alone, for a moment or two until her hazel gaze meets that of an alabaster stallion. A gentle smile finds its way onto her lips, as she strides towards him honey sweet words flow out of her velvet lips, "Good evening." She greets him with a friendly dip of crown. "I'm Heda, care to share a name?" She adds stepping closer.

He is content in the quiet moments, lulled to a sleepy state of bliss amidst the chorus of the evenings crickets. The sweet smell of summer grass and night time dew is soon interjected upon by another scent, one he does not recognize though this does not surprise him. Ears pricked he turns his smokey gaze to meet hers and offers her a soft smile as he listens to her greeting, returning the dip of her head with one of his own. Heda, he commits it to memory as she requests a name from him. ”Its been so long since I’ve last had company I’ve almost forgotten it.” he offers with a soft chuckle. Indeed it seems years since last he was near another, his gypsy’s soul and wanderlust always seeming to outweigh his natural desire for equine interaction. I’m Uconn, it’s a pleasure to make your aquantance.” he offers, studying her.

What brings you out tonight? he probes amicably, naturally curious about the woman before him. He himself has been brought by a whim, nothing more, nothing less. The Meadow had always been a favorite of his in the summer time. Come winter he’d look for warmer lodging, but for now this was perfect.

She savored the late hours, enjoying the soft lullaby of crickets within the foliage and the utter bliss of the atmosphere. With that her body relaxes as she eases into the conversation, "I know the feeling." She adds, her hazel gaze fixed and lingering. She's been there, all those years she spent traveling the seas in solitude in search of her ex-husband had sent her spiraling. When she returned the feeling of company had become so foreign and almost mundane, that it felt almost ridiculous to her no matter how much she yearned for it.

"Uconn." She tastes his name, it's gentle upon the tongue as she ingrains it in her mind. She had a lack of friends as of late, she needed to meet new people and cultivate new friendships. The only friends she had was her family, but many of them had disappeared and or simply are living a whole other life. "It's nice to meet you, Uconn." Her sugar dusted smile widens, her golden wings gently fluttering at her sides.

"I'm here to get away from my family and Loess" Her words spill out, simple and to the point. She had always clung onto family and she figured with the plague cured it was time for a change. She had to get over the fact that Loess was no longer singularly hers, despite being her creation, and she needed to pull away from her daughter's growing family. She needed to pull away from everything, like she had done in the past, but this time she found it so much harder and she couldn't quite grasp why. Perhaps it was the close proximity?
