    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

She's come here before when she had no direction. A mist has settled across the autumn morning and it conjures the images of thin veiled ghosts that that threaten to haunt her dreams. The mocha form of the bay woman is nearly a show as she watches from the thicket of brush and sleepy trees. Elk is unsure if she should break the woodland edge but there was nothing for her outside of Beqanna.

One leg is in front of the other before she realizes it and she is moving through the damp cloud of the early morning autumn mist, clinging to her skin, darkening the hair slightly. The hooded eyes that rest withing her mares skull are watching and observant as there are small qualities of deer picking their way through the tall grasses. Paths carve through, grasses bend, to reveal a trail where there is water and smoother grounds.

Elk follows silently, her lips part to snag a few strands of grass that tickle her belly before she is in an open area. The morning is still quiet and there are few other creatures that stir in Beqanna. A mindful peace fills her head and heart as she inhales deeply, bathing in the feeling of the delicate solitude.

As much as Aten didn't want to admit it, the Taiga was, unfortunately, starting to look empty due to how few horses were living there now. He conducted a search and found very few did, and knew he had to do something to help. Taiga needed residents living there in order to recover, to be a kingdom again, and the only way to do that was to go and find horses who might be willing to live there.

But he doubted any kingdom horse would just leave the sanctuary of their home for one that had no guarantees of being prosperous while there was still so much to do. So Aten set off for the Field one day, to see if maybe there were any horses out there looking for a home.

At first, he didn't seem to have much luck, until Turul came flying back overhead and told him of a horse he spotted not far away. Aten followed his falcon friend, eventually spotting the mare grazing apart from the other bands of horses. She was a rather pretty creature, even with the common coat color, and even if she decided not to see the Taiga for herself, Aten decided he would still like to be friends with her.

Letting Turul know he could handle this himself, the golden stallion worked his way over towards the mare. As he got close, he made sure to make his hooffall a bit heavier so she could hear him coming, blowing some air out of his nostrils too. When he was close enough, he spoke to catch her attention.

"Hello there. Lovely day outside today to be grazing, but why do you choose to do so alone? Surely a horse like you may have a friend or two lingering out here?" he innocently questioned, truly curious since not many horses grazed in the Field alone unless they wanted to be approached.
