In the mountains of Hyaline as spring turns toward summer the sun has set. The velvet heavens are clear and welcoming their legion of stars. An invitation has been issued, with the help of a little magic to every last creature from Pangea to Ischia. 

Hyaline asks that you ascend to its heights
To be even more than yourself
just for a night

You are cordially invited to attend
the Hyalinian Masquerade Ball
Disguises to be provided.

Before the guests arrive the hostess and her companions gather to prepare. Litotes creates gossamer curtains of shadow around the field and the lake shore to add a little nonthreatening mystery and maze of little hideaways for guests to drift through or tuck away in. The stars shine from above, but tiny golden lights float like aimless fairies, carefully created by a boy called Midnight. Young Eyas too, wields her power to create a vision of golden glitter in the dark lake so that those who wish to see it can be dazzled by its glow. 

Others come to add to the spectacle as the last details are pulled together.

Hyaline itself is opulent without any aid. Beds of wildflowers bloom between the delicate curtains of shadow. The snow capped peaks stand out against the stardust strewn heavens as the last of the sunset fades. 

On the far edge of the vast clearing, the lovely magician Leliana draws vines and flowers up from the earth, creating a large archway of blooms and beautifully entangled greenery. All the guests must pass through to enter the party. When they do they will find themselves disguised and standing at once beside the lake, not knowing at all who the other attendees are. 

They might make others guess their identity or enjoy the anonymity but it promises to be an evening full of possibilities!

Please only reply to this thread if you would like to do a post about your character arriving to add to the decor or ambiance. If you would like to use an ability in another way, like fortune telling or something else feel free to create a separate thread!


To enter the soiree your character must pass through Leliana’s archway. The archway will alter your character’s appearance in any way you would like for the party only. Once the party has ended or your character has left the boundary of the event their disguise will disappear. 


In order to add to the mystery and fun, it is suggested that you post at least one character’s first post to the party from the @[NPC] account. This is not required, but could lead to your character meeting some unexpected people!


When replying to an NPC account post please use your character’s actual account. Only the first post in the thread needs to be made from the NPC account. Again, only the first post by the creator of the thread should be from the NPC account.

When posting your “Mystery Guest/NPC” post it will spoil everything if you use your characters HTML! You can use the table I created if you don’t like to post naked, make an anonymous one of your own, or feel free to go without. 

Finally, just make sure you include [Party] in your subject line so that everyone knows it’s a Masquerade thread. The party setting thread will stay pinned for the next few weeks, but feel free to carry on your threads as long as you like.
