    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

The Resort is an empty place in comparison to home. The beach with it’s fine white sand is empty. Tephra seethes with life and action and other youths and by comparison the quiet here is a shock. He tends to avoid the bustle but cannot help but be accustomed to its background racket. Here there are only waves and birds, palm trees, and the distant clatter of old bamboo wind chimes.

In the skeletal shadow of an old lifeguard tower, its flecking paint curling up from cracked wood, Drache stands all alone. His molten green eyes stare furiously at some distant point down the beach, muscles quivering beneath his strange opalescent hide. It should be easier to shift some part of himself, natural, but so far when he is any distance from Tephra its twice as difficult. He could go home and practice but he doesn’t want anyone to see him or to know that he can’t. Having a twin sister with exactly the same abilities adds another layer of pressure to achieve.  Irritated the boy bares a mouthful of monstrously sharp teeth and throws himself into a gallop. He skids to a stop not long after, nothing about him having changed at all. Excepting for a sheen of sweat to darken his already black skin. It bothers him that he only manages his teeth and the occasional shudder of scales. His eyes have been a dragon’s from birth, reptilian and sharp but the rest is just horse and though he feels the dragon riding him, waiting heavily in his bones he can’t call it out.

His snort ricochets off the walls of a half collapsed structure the treeline and after giving the dilapidated thing a dark look he climbs the beach to inspect it, hooves rustling against the collapsed roof thatching and dessicated palm fronds.

we’re stars now, can’t you see? the center of the world is lonely me.

Living on the island usually has its perks, especially on the Resort. It was quieter and more peaceful here. At least Divest had never seen a lot of visitors come all at once. Her mother had told her many of the other lands had lots of others living in them. She supposes she is lucky to have a place more all to herself than trying to share it with hundreds of others. At the very least she is considered a queen here to an older filly named Vita she met—she hopes Vita won’t be spreading that around, Ruinam wouldn’t like that at all!

Divest finds herself on the outer parts of the Resort today. Most of the time she likes being on the inner island that is surrounded by the outer island. It was much smaller, but it wasn’t as tiresome to get across like it was to reach where she is now. However, Divest liked coming over here occasionally to see the strange structures. She never could figure out where they came from and it seemed neither anyone could either.

It seemed like no better thing to do today than to see the strange structures that dotted across the Resort. Divest moves at a quick gallop, as quick as her long limbs can carry her at least. It was a bit harder in the sand, but she learned ways to get around it eventually.

Nearing one of her favorite structures to look at, a loud echo reaches her ears. Divest stops in her tracks with the structure just in view. Her diamond-like eyes quickly spot the black fire opal boy. Curiously, her head tilts wondering who the stranger was. Divest doesn’t waste any time to approach the boy though. She also couldn’t wait to make sure he knew this was her island and she IS the queen here!

“Hey there!” She greets warmly to the boy. Her silver eyes look over him for a moment longer, admiring the color of his coat. It was even better up close, but it definitely wasn’t as pretty as hers. “What are you doing here!?” Her question is a little less friendly than her previous tone.

@[Drache] Haha no worries. I love him <3
