    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    ~Twin Flame~

As the light of dawn begins to stretch across the Meadow it tickles his nose, bidding him to wake.  Lazily, the pit-less glowing orbs open.  As he blinks away the sleep, he stretches out his neck to lay across his sister.  Her flames had not awakened yet and thus did not force him away from her side.

Looking up he finds tiny songbirds fluttering busily within the treetop.  His white face lifts in curiosity, finding they looked harmless and much smaller than himself.  He wonders what they are doing up there.  By the sounds of it there was much to discuss betweenst themselves.

Suddenly there is a soft press against his back.  His head turns around to find his mother's muzzle nudging him.  He smiles happily as he reaches to press his bone-colored face to hers.  Get up sleepy head, she coos softly.  Without further thought he rises with more ease than previous days.  The burn marks are fading quickly, and new hair has already started to grow over the pink marks along his body.  The remnants of his traumatic birth nothing but memory now.

His small frame leans lightly against her.  Small flames begin to lick at his hooves while he eats.

Soon his sister is stirring as well, her flames scatter across her entire body.  In the morning sunlight she glitters a vibrant red as she approaches mother.  He had his fill, so he moves off to observe the birds a bit more.  He stares up to the canopy and notes them leaping about and eating something.  A tiny berry falls from one grasp and bonks him on the forehead.  He shakes his head with a small snort before lowering it to search for whatever hit him.  Brushing his tiny muzzle into the grasses he sniffs around, finally locating the small fruit...

@Jack in the Box  Maybe it's poisonous, maybe it's not idk XD

The first light of dawn illuminates the landscape, casting a warm glow over the surroundings. As the gentle rays of the sun filter through the trees, Jack remains blissfully asleep while Aurora tends to the babies.

Gradually awakening, Jack lets out a deep groan and stretches, his eyes slowly adjusting to the soft morning light. The melodious chirping of birds fills the air, creating a tranquil atmosphere. He notices Eviction busily exploring something nearby and remarks, "Good morning, what mischief is he up to now?"

Jack takes a few delicate bites of the dew-covered grass, with droplets of water trickling from his lower lip. Affectionately, he nudges Aurora and inquires, "Do you have any plans for today?"

Eviction is the first to rise, which is unsurprising.  The child wasn't as outgoing as his sister, but he surely had the drive his sister lacked.

Her navy eyes shift as everyone is up and about.  They settle on Jack as he approaches with a greeting, followed by questions and a nudge.  Her head turns to look at Eviction and his antics, "Knowing him it is nothing to worry about."   She then notices Escence is joining in, and she adds, "Now that one... She's something to worry about!"  She chuckles softly before looking to Jack.  "I have no plans but chasing the red headed girl around I'm sure," her eyes give a faux roll as her body shifts to view the pair better.  "Looks like a nice day, maybe you and Eviction can hang out this afternoon?"  She suggests with a smile.

He isn't paying attention to the other happenings around him.  That is until his sister bounds in and pounces on the berry he had found.  It's MINE!  She shouts and laughs devilishly.  He tries to block her while shouting back, "No!  Escence don't..." his warning falls on deaf ears as she plucks it from the grass and eats it.  "Why would you do that?!  It could be poisonous!"  He looks at her with wide concerned eyes, a smug grin curling her lips.  "I hope you get sick," his eyes narrow on her.  He didn't mean it, but man did she irritate him sometimes.

He brushes past her, bumping her on purpose, as he walks to where his mother and Jack stood conversing, "Mom, Escence ate the berry I found.  I told her not to and she did anyhow." His pit less eyes glance towards her just as her tongue sticks out and she prances off, flames in tow.

Jack glanced over at the energetic twins, while Eviction approached in a state of frenzy. With an amused expression, he rolls his eyes chuckling softly while shaking his head. "You've certainly got your hooves full," he chuckles before he turns his attention to Aurora as she makes her way towards the young filly. "Eviction, I'm sure you'd appreciate a break from Essence. How about I take you to an orchard where you can have some of the best apples you'll ever have," he whispers to the colt, hoping to lift his spirits.

He strolls over to Aurora, while mischievous Escence continues to frolic around, oblivious to the potential dangers of consuming unfamiliar items. "I'm planning to bring Eviction to the orchard. Is that alright with you?"

There is shouting and bickering, followed by a call for mom.  She snorts in annoyance as Eviction is now at her side and Escence trots of, her head held high.  Her navy eyes roll as she replies, "Ya... Thanks."

She turns to walk towards where the girl was prancing about, "Escence you can't just eat stuff if you don't know what it is."  Her voice is stern but kind.  Jack walks up behind her and tells her of his plan to take Eviction to the orchard.  She looks to him with a smile, "That sounds great!  You two have fun."  When she turns to look back to Escence the girl is disappearing over a small hilltop...

His tattling on his sister did not stir the wrath of Mother he hoped it would.  He huffs a sigh as she turns to walk off in the direction his sister was.

The large stallion looks to him with a whisper of an orchard and he is intrigued.  His eyes widen at the suggestion to do something without his twin.  He pauses for a moment, turning to look towards Escence before replying shyly, "O-ok."  He gives a tiny nod as he follows Jack to where his mother chased after Escence.  He was excited to do something without her for a change, but it wasn't what he was used to.  His sister was always by his side, even if she was annoying most minutes of every day.

As Jack observes Aurora trailing behind Escence over the crest of the hill, a smile tugs at the corners of his lips. He turns to Eviction and with a playful nudge of the shoulder, remarks, "It'll be a nice change of pace to have some time away from your sister." With a mischievous glint in his eye, he adds, "Let's embark on an adventure." Setting off on the same path as Aurora, Jack and the colt begin their journey.

Upon reaching the top of the hill, a cluster of trees comes into view, adorned with crimson apples that glisten in the sunlight. These are undoubtedly the most luscious apples in the vicinity. Jack gestures toward the trees and exclaims, "Look over there!" With a competitive grin, he challenges Eviction, "I'll race you there!" With that, he sets off in a leisurely canter, allowing Eviction to take the lead.

He hesitates but then follows happily at the talk of an adventure.  His flaming hooves float over the Meadows summer grasses, leaving some singed at the tips.  He doesn't notice the destruction he causes as he is too busy looking up to the large bay.

They reach the top of the incline, noting the trees off in the distance Jack speaks of.  He gazes on them briefly before looking up to Jack with a small smile.  Jack initiates a race, and before he engages, he glances back at the direction his sister ran off too.

With a determined grin he races down the hill.  He catches up to Jack quickly and speeds past him, with his glowing mane and tail flagging behind.  Once a few lengths ahead he lets out a squeal and kicks his flaming heels in the air.  Was he actually having fun?!

Jack's face lights up with a smile as he observes the colt's initial hesitance melting into pure excitement. As he looks behind him in his slow loping stride, he misses the moment when Eviction zooms by him, kicking his fiery heels up. Jack quickly pulls up to avoid getting singed by the flames and lets Eviction take the lead, staying a few lengths back. "You're so fast! You must've gotten that from your mom," he calls out with admiration.

In response, Jack can't contain his joy. He lets out a squeal, kicking out as he feels the weight of recent stress lift from his shoulders. Spending time with Eviction and heading to his favorite spot was exactly what he needed to unwind.

As they walked toward the orchard, the sweet aroma of ripe red and green apples filled the air. A smile spread across his face as he took in the sight. In the center of the orchard, he spotted a tree with an abundance of shiny red apples hanging low. He reached up, carefully plucked an apple from the tree, and took a bite, savoring the sweet juice that dribbled down his chin. After enjoying half of the apple, he then offered the remaining fruit to Eviction.
