Lagertha and Rhy had always had something of a less than professional relationship. They could curtail that, when needed. But in front of Vanquish, it wasn’t necessary. At least, Rhy didn’t feel that way, and usually Rhy is the epitome of good manners. But when someone brings you back from the dead, you go from being acquaintances to tied by fate, whether you want to or not. In this particular case, she was glad for it. Vanquish was an ally worth having.
Rhy, at this point, let’s Lagertha take the lead, simply along for the ride now, like she very often is. Particularly where this war was concerned. She would not be in it, so at this point, her job is simply to maintain whatever alliances they form before all hell breaks loose. Though at this point, she wonders if the side of good wasn’t also the side perpetuating the war. Not that she knows exactly what the Chamber and the Valley are plotting, but rather that they’ve been quiet as of late.
Lagertha’s answer to Vanquish is evasive and political, though Rhy doesn’t bat an eye or flinch at it. It’s perfectly acceptable. All alliances were tenuous at best anyway. They existed only for so long as the parties found it useful. The girl speaks up as well, answering Lagertha’s question, and Rhy gives her an encouraging glance. Lagertha may be intimidating, but she wasn’t really all that bad. Once you got to know her, it turns out.
