    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Weaver makes her way to the Gates slowly. She’s in no real rush, after all. It’s no fun task, but the Princess bears it anyway. In truth, she doesn’t mind so much. She’s been touched by Death, after all. Carries his seal and his mark on her chest. She is, in essence, the one thing keeping Death from sweeping in and taking all of Beqanna.

Though no one in the Gates knows that. All they will know is that Straia did not come herself. Perhaps they won’t care. Perhaps they will be glad not to see the Raven Queen’s face. Though Weaver looks so much like her mother, the only real difference is that the Princess is black where her mother is brown. And of course the faint blue rune that marks her chest. But then again, she’s the only one with that particular marking.

Even moving slowly, it doesn’t take her that long to find the Gates. The landscape is green still, though the trees have begun to turn and the skyline is dotted with fiery leaves. Unlike the Chamber, where the trees stay green year-round, shrouded in darkness and mist. There’s sunlight streaming into the Gates though, and Weaver wonders how anyone survives this much sun. But of course, the girl isn’t used to it.

She stops on the border, pretending to care about being polite. For this particular visit, it is the right way to behave. The raven on her back takes off, disappearing into the sky and away from the Gates entirely. This raven is not here to spy. No, it is simply Weaver’s guardian, and perhaps something of a friend to the girl. But he knows that he will not be welcome, and so he’s gone before anyone comes to find the girl. She does not call out. There’s likely no need. They will find her. The smell of the Chamber on the border is never a welcome thing, after all.
