    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

    "But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    Revealing a Wanderer: Sorea
    #1
    Her world wasn't always a silent one. In the beginning, when the natural sounds of the earth had faded from her knowing, Sorea (SORE-REE-AH) often reflected on the days she could hear the birds sing in the morning, the breeze flow gently through the trees at midday, and the wolves in the evening howl distantly. But three years had passed since she had lost such delights, and as it went, her thoughts about it had become less and less.

    That morning, she had found her way through a forest she knew well and into a sunny field she had yet to venture. How odd, Sorea thought, for she had never discovered or noticed it before, despite having lingered in the area for some time. As it were, danger, here, was fairly low.

    Stepping out from the trees and into the tall grass, the mare saw what appeared to be others of her kind a good distance away, some near to each other, and some still on their own. Immediately, stiffened as her heart began to pound rapidly within her. Although Sorea had been a loner for some time, she had not altogether been without her kind, though none of those she met had stuck around. Though she could read lips for sound and decipher body language well, it was hard for her to seem totally pleasant or friendly, given her disadvantage.

    With a snort of curiosity, Sorea began a leisurely walk across the field, though now and then, she stopped for several minutes to graze.

    ASHARA

    Autumn had finally given way to winter. Although mild here in comparison to winters she had known just a couple years ago, the air was noticeably crisp. The golden vixen could breath easier now that breeding season was over. Leaving the comforts of the kingdom to stretch and warm stiff limbs wasn’t the same risk it was in the previous season. Her breath a temporary white cloud in the atmosphere. The Falls was growing in numbers so the current visits purpose held less weight than when numbers dwindled. Still it was always nice to have more friends. Secretly she wouldn’t mind finding a love match for her dear friend, Jedi. He was a gallant paint, who protected fiercely and deserved to find someone.

    Amber pools befell a dappled femme with refined features. Observing her path, Ashara made her way to intercept. Her auricles focused on the other and waiting for eye contact. She dipped her honey-hued skull in respect. “Good day Miss, I’m Ashara. Out for a stroll?” The reason one comes to the field is an obvious one, asking is more of a formality. Her tone was warm, despite unknowingly falling on deaf ears. Her gaze drifted to the topography casually as to not seem too eager.

    He was ready to pat himself on the back. What had started as just a inclination now had led to a plain full of four mares, and the possibility of mroe on the way. Though he could only hope that invitations would be accept. It wasn't a full fledged forgiveness, but it was a start. Working hard was starting to pay off.

    Head held high he makes his way among the long grasses. Today he was muling around the feild waiting to see if anyone was in need of company or a helping hand on their journey to finding a home. Wings flutter and his blue mane shimmers in the light.

    Finding creatures to aproach was proving to be much simpler then before, there was a huge herd of new and old horses all looking for a home to call their own. It was only a matter of telling them their options. Hi He grunts out to her, though his pace remains steady he stays alert to any discomfort she may display. He notes that the mare he had run into on several occassions was out and about today as well. I'm Phaedrus He growls out gently. How are you doing Ashara? He couldn't help but want to start up a friendly conversation if he could.

    During one of the times she had stopped to graze, Sorea felt the steady impact of hoof steps on the ground a little ways in front of her. Raising her head, she was both shocked and delighted to see another of her kind approach her, for it had been a while since she had the pleasure of company.

    Carefully she watched the mare's lips as she spoke, and although Sorea understood her and was happy to no longer be alone, the usual insecurity as to what her own voice might sound like began to fill her.

    "That I am," she said quickly, knowing by a certain amount of tension in her throat she was speaking loud enough. Really, she had become an expert in determining the strength of sounds, even if she could only feel them. "I am Sorea."

    As long as she stayed focused on the mouth of the friendly Ashara, she could probably get away with hiding her defect. It wasn't a source of great shame, but any chance to feel normal would not go ignored. It was then her attention was suddenly directed elsewhere, for a new scent filled the air. Before she saw Phaedrus she noticed his smell, and by the time she caught sight of him, she had missed what he said to her, but not to Ashara.

    When the obsidian winged man approached, a smirk tugged at the edges of her dark lips. “Nice to see you again Phaedrus, I’m doing very well, thank you. How about you?” Her confidence had grown since their first meeting over a year ago. He was her first mystic to encounter and she was terrified then. So much had happened in that year since, but it seemed like a whirlwind.

    Her amber pools returned to other mare whose voice was slightly different. “I come from the Falls, it’s a lovely neutral kingdom and you’re more than welcome to join.” She gave a nod to accentuate the last note and shifted her weight upon her stiffening limbs. The Falls were quite beautiful, surely this mare would like it. The winters were mild, and the lack of predators made it a safe and comfortable even in the worst season.

    He was begining to respect the woman. Ashara seemed to know what she wanted and went after it, not only that but she seemed to be growing in confidence as every time they ran into each other recruiting she grew a little bolder. He smiles to her along with the other female. The Dale is a neutral kingdom as well. He states it as a generality, though the kingdom was much more then that to him, it took something special to bring someone to truly fall in love with the Dale. I also have a herd if that interests you. He was feeling slightly frustrated. Having to talk so much, and yet even now he wasn't quite finished. You are more than welcome to join a herd as well as a kingdom if you have a hard time deciding. He winks at her, as if his charm was that hard to resist.

    He didn't believe this joke at all, but still if he could bring some intertainment to the conversation, at least it was something. He shuffles closer to the deaf mare though he isn't aware that she is that at all. Kindly extending his nostrils in greeting. How are you faring anyways? He couldn't remember if he had asked the lady that or not. great to hear Ashara. I am doing good too. proper english or not didn't really matter to the stallion, words were useless in the face of actions. As well as words could prove to be helpful he couldn't say that words were something that he enjoyed in the least.

    So much was happening at once that Sorea, absently, stomped one of her back hooves. Though she had not caught every word the friendly Ashara or strange Phaedron (as she had understood his name) had said, her mind was sharp, and she gathered both of them were offering a place within their homelands to her.

    What luck! She thought.

    "I'm fairing well," she replied to the stallion's question. "I accept both offers." Her eyes then moved quickly from the mare to the stallion, waiting to see which would speak first.

    { OOC; Thanks! But how can my character choose both? I realize I can play her in two different forums, but wouldn't she be agreeing to be in two places at once? }

    [OOC: A kingdom can be a job or like I said, you can reside there and not partake in the caste system. But if you did choose to be a diplomat or warrior you can have a herd life outside of the kingdom and just partake in the duties associated with your role. Sorry, kinda confusing. Hope I explained it okay.]

    { OOC: I get it now. Ok, I'll edit my post a little. }

    She eyed the dark stallion as he spoke, there was a hint of something in his tone she couldn’t quite put her finger on. Her smile broadened at the dappled choice, it was a win win. “Fine choice. If you don’t mind Phaedrus, I will escort her to the Falls for some introductions and political stuff then I will personally escort her to The Dale.” It was more of a statement then a request. Returning to the other mare she gave a wink and tilted her head towards the path home. “Shall we?”
