    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

In a world with no tolerance,
We do what we shouldn’t have to
Curiosity holds his strings this time. In the dead of night Adriell ventured out as his mind replayed old memories. There aren't many because he didn't venture out to explore or really mingle. There were a few that he met, but it was so very long ago. It's likely his name and face would be forgotten, but there is always the chance that his marking identifies him.

With so many miles ahead and with nightfall waning, Adriell lurches into a fluid canter as his body gracefully transitions. Great wings protrude and feathers suddenly adorn his inky coat. Within just a few heartbeats he is airborne in the form of an owl, camouflaging with the darkness. Time slips away from him then as he enjoys the kiss of the wind on his face. With each flap of his wings he inches ever closer to where he once lived. Knots twist in his stomach, but he isn't quite sure why. There will be no one there, certainly not even grandfather. Much time has since passed.

As the wee hours of the morning begin to arrive Adriell dips his flight path and gradually descends toward the border he had once familiarized himself with. The tall grass stands above him at first until his body shifts back into that of a horse. "I will never get used to that," he mutters to himself lightheartedly with a grin. The sensation of his bones becoming larger and more dense always strikes him strangely, as though he is suddenly made of lead. With a final shake of his body, the transformation completed, he waits at the edge of the Dale knowing that someone will eventually see him.
