    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Another Addition for the Herd [Moon, Any]

all of us have a hero and a villain in us

The sun has lowered in the sky from the time it took him and Moon to travel from the field to the Falls. Trotting into the entrance with the silver mare close behind him he stopped breathing in the fresh air "welcome to the Falls" he smiled gazing over to the waterfall that roared louder in the spring and summer, rather than crackling in the winter.

He stretched forward giving a whinny for his mares to introduce himself as well as the other kingdom members. He was sure the golden vixen would be quick to introduce herself as she was with all his herd additions. "I hope you will love it here" he smiled moving closer to her rubbing his head against her shoulder blade.

She responded to the affection with only a slight nuzzle to the neck. She was in awe of the seemingly mystical place. The mist rising from the crashing waterfall, the lush green grass, it was all perfect. She looked at the flaming sun, beginning to set low on the horizon. "I'm glad to have joined." She mumbled to herself, dreaming of when the sunset peaked over the waterfall. Pink and oranges smearing the bottom of the sky, it must be beautiful.

As other appeared she stretched her neck out, pointed her muzzle down, and flipped her forelock over her right eye. She wanted to appear beautiful, in hopes of putting in a high ranking. She smiled, realizing she would finally be able to have foals. She grinned, throwing her head up and preforming a graceful circle around Archam, "It's beautiful." She whinnied, nuzzling his neck again.

Archam watched as the mare looked around the Falls, there was a lot to see and it was all beautiful. It was relaxing to know all his mares were content with the kingdom. "Im glad you like it" he smiled. His eyes followed the mare as she made a circle around him, her touch was warming and he moved closer to the mare as she circled him butting his head against her shoulder before moving back. He was excited and impatient for the breeding season this year, it was projected to be successful and he couldnt wait to see the kin he would produce. "Are you interested in having foals?" He asked curious to her desires.

Anahi had been peacefully grazing with the rest of Archam's mares, a short while after joining his herd. She was slowly getting used to her place here in the Falls, and decided that she had better get her business as a diplomat going before breeding season got here.

Since she lived in a stallion's herd, she knew what was bound to happen. Not that she was all incredibly excited since she still felt the pain of losing her foal, but she had to admit, actually raising one would help to ease the pain.

Anahi had just grabbed another mouthful of grass to enjoy when she heard a familiar neigh. It was Archam, asking for his mares to come and greet him. Not sure but hypothesizing why, Anahi trotted toward the direction of the neigh, wanting to find out why Archam was calling.

As Anahi approached, she slowed her gait to a walk, dipping her head as she came up to the stallion whose herd she lived in. Noticing a mare beside him, a silver dapple from the looks of her, Anahi neighed in greeting as well.

"Welcome to the Falls? You're a newcomer I assume?" she questioned in a friendly manner.

She touched her muzzle to his, keeping up the circle. "Yes, I would love foals." She said, more of a whisper in his ear than a whinnied. Once the voice of a new mare filled her ears she stopped, turning to face the newcomer. With a slight bow of her head she greeted the seemingly calm mare.

Moon whinnied a reply "Thank you." She paused, making sure her voice was smooth and calm. "And yes, I am a Newcomer I guess." She whinnied.

With a few elegant steps she strode closer to the new mare, tipping her dark muzzle up into the wind to smell for other stallions. If there were others near by, it meant other mares.

Moon was only being nice as a first impression, and she was usually highly competitive and chaotic around other mares.

Her eyes were envious of the beautiful mare in front of her. Her sloping shoulders flexed as she stretched out. She flashed a look back at Archam, grinning.

The stallion watched as the mare continued to circle around him, in a teasing mannor. He gave a nicker followed by a grin as she stated she wanted a foal. He couldnt wait until foaling season, it was coming up quick. He extended his neck allowing his muzzle to touch her body from her shoulder to her flank and she walked a circle. He drew his head back and looked as another was approaching.

To his relief it was Anahi, he gave a smile as she approached listening as the two mares exchanged words. "Hello Anahi, this is Moon" he spoke with a prideful voice before moving to rub his body against Anahi, returning to stand in the middle of the two. He watched as Moon seemed to be refraining from Anahi. He wasnt sure her interaction with others, but he could tell she wasnt acting her true self. He didnt press it as soon enough he would ser the true Moon.

Anahi noticed how the new mare, Moon apparently, as Archam introduced her, acted around each other. It was obvious that Moon was attracted to the bay roan stallion, moreso than Anahi herself anyways. It wasn't that she disliked him, it was just that the only reason she saw him as a friend was because he'd been away a number of times, looking for new mares, leaving his herd to go about their business.

The champagne mare had also taken that time to learn more about being a diplomat for the kingdom, but at the same time, she had to admit, she would like to get to know Archam a little better. Of course, even if that didn't happen, that wouldn't stop him when foaling season arrived.

Anahi still didn't know how she felt about it yet. She still felt aching in her heart whenever she thought about foals, and it was all because of what he had done to her when she was younger.

She had made herself a promise to never forgive him. Even if she ended up with a foal come next spring, Archam at least seemed like the type who would take care of his mares. That made her feel a bit better at least. In short, she just didn't know if she was ready.

Anahi also noticed how Moon seemed to be hiding something; how she was acting just didn't seem to suit her, from what the champagne mare gathered. Barely registering Archam rubbing up against her since Anahi was more focused on trying to find out what Moon was truly feeling, the mare decided to stay civil for now.

"Well, you have picked a lovely home. The Falls are lovely, especially during the spring and summer time.

Moon bobbed her head as little in a sign of greetings.  With large hazel eyes she looked at both of them.  "Where do you stay over the night?" She asked, sensing the slight change of mood in the air.

She lifted her tail slightly and sunk her back in in a quick stretch.  She stopped and stood up straight, glancing once again at the waterfall.  She rotated her ears 180° and took a step back.

Archam watched as Anahi seemed displeased with him, was it because he brought a new mare? Or because he wasnt around much. "Moon will be the last addition to our herd until next spring" he spoke truthfully. He was content with his herd, they were growing, he is expecting a large foal turn out this season and it will only get larger from there. He would take the time to be around his mares now, aside from his warrior duties. He wasnt aware of Anahis past, but he hoped he would grow on her.

He flicked his attention back to Moon "you can sleep anywhere, the kingdom is safe" he spoke softly "although I prefer my mares all stay near each other, so I can watch over everyone" he said truthfully. He was still working on getting his herd land, but hoped to have his own before the next breeding season this year.

Anahi nodded in agreement with what Archam told Moon.

"The herd shifts over the land throughout the day while we graze, but we normally return to the trees close to the Falls. That way, we have water, a safe place to sleep, and a good vantage at keeping an eye out for predators. The forest doesn't make it easy for them to sneak up on us when they're trying to find their next meal."

The champagne mare's ears swiveled a moment as a breeze ran through the area, tossing her mane slightly. She moved her head so that the wind wouldn't affect her mane as it just had; for some reason, she was getting a jealous vibe from Moon. Perhaps it had to do with how Anahi suspected that the other mare was attracted to Archam?

Whatever the case, she just didn't want to cause any fights, jealousy-driven or not. So instead, she just gave Moon a friendly smile, hoping to send a message that she did not wish to fight. Anahi could use her hooves if the cause arose, but was more of a talker than a fighter, at least until it came to the safety of those she loved.
