    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    felidae x moose

The silvery textured form chooses to walk into the field opposed to using the feathered appendages that sprouted from her spine. Long wisps of golden red tresses fall across her eyes before she shakes it away. Dark eyes look over the vastness of the land with somber quiet eyes. Destiny would come knocking today and it scared her. Her fate to be decided  by others than herself.

She had attempted a nomadic solo life before and it only led to harassment by predators and very cold nights. A mare in her right mind knew that she was better suited to live among others. Slender limbs move more slowly now as she notes her surroundings, other equines. Nares flare as the chill of winter smothers the scents of autumn. The dampness of rotting leaves is no longer grating on the sensitive sense of smell. The lower temperatures leave the air fresh and clean. Her chest deepens with an inhale before the light plume of frost creates a cloud, resembling a a smoldering dragon on it's bed of treasure. She is not frightened nor excited. Her skin shivers ever so slightly in the setting sun. Sharp nails crunch the white tinted blades beneath her weight as the birds begin to settle into the dusky evening. The field is quiet.

She only feels her heart beating in her temples.
She only sees her shadow stretching away from the setting sun.
    She is alone.

It is the last flight he will take in the feild until the warmer season. The cold stinging his feathers, the bitter scent of the winter onslaught. Its really all that more dissapointing to him. He always started growing grumpy, his fur thickened, his nature taking over to hunker down and remain in the sheltered plains, or the Dale where its slightly warmer then this open air.

Its then that he spots a horse, completely alone, no remnents of any others even close. A scowl crosses his features, this was not something that he was looking for. Ok yes it was, but he also wanted to pretend that this season was never coming, that the warmth of sun rays, and the lush of green would never dissapear that the white of ice would never again rule over the land. But as much as he wished it, he knows that it would never happen.

So on his last flight to the feild he pulls up circling until he spirals to the ground. Heavy hooves thudding against the solid earth. Ripples strain up his legs into his shoulders and haunches. Its then that he notices the wings. I'm Phaedrus, of the Dale, and golden plains. It seemed easier then having to explain later that she could pick from a herd or kingdom, or both. It left it up to her and her alone to mention what she desired.

Before he would have to wind himself with the whole explaination, but not this time. No this time he can simply state it and grunt out any responses to questions she might have. Well normally sheba would be making some sort of snarky comment, but the cat had remained in the plains watching out for the mares and protecting them from any predators that may lurk when they do not scent a stallion present.

While he was greatful for this act, he couldn't help but feel a like a peice of himself was missing. Would you like to take a flight? he had yearned for a company in the skies for a long time now. Not many seemed to have wings, or desired to be airborn as was his passion. Not only had he turned his aerial skills into weapons of battle, but he also used them to develope a new perspective on things that he otherwise would never see.
