The heat of summer in Nerine might not be as heavy on them as it would have been elsewhere, but compared to the coolness of the island, Leilan definitely prefers the latter. Perhaps it's the ability to generate ice, and it's subsequent apparent resistance to cold, that invokes the opposite feeling towards heat. Nevertheless, as he'd once noticed in the Ischian summer, he rather prefers a different climate. Not that he won't survive in Nerine, or anywhere really, but the coolness of the trees and caves is something he prefers to... pretty much any of the more open spaces and sun-heated rocks in the coastal kingdom. So he sticks with travelling the southern border, or swimming back and forth between Nerine and the Icy Isle - but his family resides here, and so, more often than not, here is a good place to go looking for him as well. Just never a hundred-percent guarantee. But his mother is lucky. Or perhaps caught his scent. With family on the forefront of his mind, he always worries a little, these days. Chryseis had turned out to be sick. Either from travelling or lack thereof; Roseen and Thorgal hadn't been in Nerine for a while and perhaps they were held up by not daring to travel in the plague-ridden country. Then there was Ophanim, who'd travel as much as Jenova and he had no idea where to look for him, either. Chryseis was the only one he could help at this moment. And of course, Breckin and the twins. Who had happened to (either under the influence of their sister or not) swim across to Nerine and so, the family had finally moved. Today, he'd spend his time going back and forth between checking all was still well on the island and caring for his family, the ones he knew to be close anyway. Sleep was overrated - sort of. Anyway, he probably wouldn't feel well-rested until the matter of the island had been settled, or until the girls were old enough - scratch that, they were never going to be old enough not to worry about them. Chryseis proved that very well, coming back with both Kelpie and boyfriend-marks on her body. Even if she thought she was an adult, the two-year old still had much to learn about boys and men... she'd never even asked about why she wasn't Breckin's daughter, and she'd probably be very disappointed when she finally found out. It is a relatively quiet moment where he's half-dozing, half-trying-to-keep-an-eye-on-the-girls. Breckin is around too, probably doing a better job at the latter, her attention on the sounds of their voices while his own eyes now and then switch visions to catch any approaching danger before it ever nears them. His mother putting out a show gets noticed easily; seeing as the lights appear harmless and he knows only of family being able to make them dance like that, he tosses his head and with a soft snorts alerts his wife (he's not quite sure she knows about him thinking of her as such, but it's the case anyway; to him she's more than just someone to play with, or lie with, a difference he knows quite well). He steps out quickly, though the sounds of Oisin and Eurwen are easily distinguishable when he does. He comes to a halt and tilts his head at his mother as soon as she comes into view, which is perhaps earlier than with most, but mutual between his mother and him. A low chuckle follows. "Who are you and what did you do to my mother?" he teases, though he starts to move towards her once again. you set my soul alight @[Scorch] excuse you, you know us very well xD |
