when my time comes around; maertin - Ivar - 02-17-2019

The pale sand of Ischia had long ago faded into the darkness below, and Ivar is careful to keep close to the warm surface of the sea. There are things in the depth that even a kelpie knows to leave unbothered. His scales are a natural defense, but what good is impenetrable hide against a mouth large enough to swallow him whole ten times over.

The sapphire scaled kelpie usually prefers to keep to the coast, where the water is shallow. Today though, he is moving quickly and is willing to cross the open ocean to cut hours from his journey. The iron grey cliffs of Nerine loom on the horizon overhead, and Ivar knows that he's made it. Somewhere along this shore is the healer.

The kelpie has only a vague description. Chestnut. Water Healer. Son of Brennen's wife. Ther was other gossip that the kelpie cared little for; his interest in Brennen had disappeared as soon as the bay stallion had. That is not to say the kelpie hasn't thought of him. He's rather proud of his sons Casimir and Aeghir after all, and he thinks Brennen might like them too.

Maybe if Brennen ever comes back to claim Ischia, Ivar could drown the weaker one to show the Krakens what he was capable of. The image brings a smile to the stallion's handsome face. He floats, head and shoulders above the water only a few yards from the shore. This time of year the beach is busier than usual, but Ivar is willing to sacrifice being seen to hasten his return to Ischia with his prize in hand.
