Peaches are my favorite fruit
They taste like summer sun
And childhood
For just a couple months we have them
And I treasure each and every one
When I was small I'd devour them
Sticky juice on my chin
On my fingers
Eaten in a bowl with sugar and milk
A delicious memory
Now I eat them slowly
One bite at a time, savored
Rationed sunshine waiting for a rainy day
Slowly, slowly, to make it last until
They're rotton in the bowl
