    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Wynters had been looking for the twins, unsure when they were. They were normally around somewhere. Well luvi was normally around somewhere. Ravin could anywhere in Beqanna knowing in.

Cantering down the field towards the adults she pulled to a halt near her mother Have you seen Luvi? Or either of the twins? She asked her mother, who had been grazing.
No, why were you suppose to meet them? She asked. I mean we didn't have plans as such but we said yesterday about maybe going exploring. Your not going to object, are you? She asked her mother unsure.
Cascadia chuckled No, as long as you stick with one of them. she said seriously.

The two year old grinned Promise. Moving away a little bit she screamed both there names as loud as she could. The first time she'd done that they'd both come running in a panic.. now it was more normal for her to just be loud.

She winced as her shoulder burned, turning her head to look though showed nothing out of the ordinary. Strange, it had done that a few times now. Shaking herself to get rid of the odd feeling, it didn't hurt to walk so she ignored whilst waiting for the twins.

Ravin is grateful for the thicker winter coat he’s grown. Though the Gates does not get as bitterly cold as some of the places he’s been, the morning air has a bit of a nip to it, and his exhaled breaths come along with billowing steam.

He’s imagining he’s a dragon, exhaling long plumes of flame, when the sound of his name catches his attention. The palomino stops and turns his head, hearing Luvi’s name and recognizing Wynter’s voice. With a grin, he turns and canters toward the sound.

There is Wynters over the next hill, her familiar black and white pattern standing out against the light cover of snow and the brightly colored flowers that bloom through it.

”Hey!” He calls, stopping when he is beside the younger filly. ”Luvi’s gonna meet up with us later,” he says, ”She’s off staring at the moon with Ruhr right now, but she said she’s gonna meet us by the Waterfall.” The colt gestures with one feathered wing toward the distant entity.

Wynters smiles before jumping at Ravin, or at least trying to with the height difference its not always that effective with Ravin.

She frowns at his comment about staring at the moon, yer they'd that this conversation several times. But before she can say something she gets distracted by burning in her shoulder around, swinging her head round to look she frowns.

Brushing the odd feeling off to looks up to Ravin which waterfall? she ask Not the one here, right? she says a little disgruntled, i want to go out somewhere. Mother say i can, as long as i with you or Luvi she says, hoping to get him interested in going exploring somewhere.

It was so rare she got out of her without an adult, she loved her mother of course but she could be so over protective at times.

She’s getting better at jumping, and Ravin’s grin matches her own as he ducks, simultaneously reaching out toward her with a wing. At first, he thinks he might have bumped her shoulder, even though he was sure he couldn’t have from this angle. Wynter’s sudden motion, turning to stare at what looks like a normal piebald shoulder, causes his own smile to fade.

But it’s not her shoulder that Wynters speaks of, instead responding to where he’d said they’d meet Luvi. Her obvious disappointment causes a reemergence of his earlier grin, recognizing all too well the feeling of being restricted when all he wanted to do was explore.

“Just to meet up,” he answers reassuringly, ”Then we can go somewhere more interesting.” He attempts to waggle his eyebrows, the expression ruffling the upright feathers of his brow. ”So what’s it to be for your first adventure? Ghost hunting on the Beach? Climbing the Mountain?”

As he speaks, he beings to make his way toward the waterfall, where they’ll meet up with his sister. He glances over his winged shoulder to be sure that @Wynters  is coming along.

The youngster hummed with excitement, her typical fun loving personality shining through.
She smiles at Ravin that's ok then, i don't wanna be stuck at home, especially when mom has given me permission to leave she giggles before continuing I mean you know hard it is to get mom to agree to that she says with a roll of her eyes.

Trotting up beside Ravin she tilts her head in thought Urmm i think the beach is safer, mom will never allow me to leave here again if i get hurt she says.

Tilting her head she eyes Ravin with a mischievous smile race yer to the falls she says quickly before taking off laughing, she knew Ravin could catch up to her, those long legs of his would eat up the distance between them, especially if she couldn't stop laughing.
Although she was also catching up in height to Ravin so maybe one day she'd be able to beat him in a race.

She risked turning her head slightly so she could see out of one eye behind her to check he was following, although it wasn't like him not to follow her in a race.

Of course she was still in that clumsy youngster phase and he check back on him only earns her to trip over something and face planting the ground, rolling a few times before she comes to a stop in a heap.

One day she might learn not to get distracted when running, but apparently that day wasn't today.

He grins, nodding his golden head as she speaks of her mother. Cascadia’s protectiveness of her daughter had been obvious from the day that the pair of them had arrived in the Gates. The golden colt would have chafed under the limitations placed on Wynters, and he is glad that she’s been granted more freedom as she ages. There is never any harm in having another companion to keep an eye and ear out, and he does enjoy Wynter’s company.

“Cool,” he replies, nodding at her choice. “I’ve never been, but I hear you can sometimes see some ghosts.” His tone is excited, but he wonders what Luvi will think. She’s no fan of ghosts and spirits, but perhaps she’ll be more inclined to not protest if it’s what Wynters had chosen. Yes, he decides, he’ll just make sure she knows that Wynters chose the Beach, and then she’ll come along.

Slightly distracted by his thoughts, he’s half-listening to Wynters’ offer to race. Only her sudden speed focuses him, and he laughs easily, thrilled by the prospect.

She has the advantage of a head start, so the palomino colt breaks into an immediate gallop, bolstered by a flap of his colorful wings. His wings remained outstretched, as he has found that running is far less cumbersome when they are spread out rather than folded against his sides. When she falls and rolls into his path, he leaps upward, flapping his wings hard, and manages to avoid hitting her with his hooves while she rolls by tucking his legs against himself.

The adrenaline is racing through him as his hooves hit the dirt again and he turns toward Wynters. Ravin grins broadly, feeling that was the closest to flight he’s gotten yet, and thrilled by his own agility. “You probably would fall down the Mountain.” Ravin teases. “The Beach is a good choice for your first adventure. It’s probably nice and flat.”

“The Beach?” Luvi repeats, having heard the sound of racing hooves and come from the waterfall. Her mane and tail are still somewhat damp, and her blue-grey eyes are bright as she looks from her brother to her friend.

Picking her self up off the floor she shakes her head, irritated with herself one day i'm going to not be this clumsy she says with a huff, before shaking the dirt and debris from her painted coat.

Blue eyes glances back at Ravin as she frowns ghosts? she wasn't sure she actually believed in ghost. Equally knowing how Ravin liked to needle his sister and sometimes herself she wasn't sure if this was another of his jokes.

Oh and using your wings in a race is cheating Ravin she said with a fake condescending tone that she couldn't keep up for long before smiling.

She rolled her eyes at his mention of her falling down the mountain, even if he was probably correct in that assumption. She was about to reply to Ravin when she heard the soft voice of her friend and Ravin's twin, spinning around she smiled as she trotted to meet Luvi
Hi Luvi she says excitedly Mom said i can leave the gates as long as i'm with one of you! Clearly excited at the prospect of some freedom, she loved her mother dearly but her protectiveness could be stifling at times. Of course she knew why, knew what had happened in the past, some of it she could remember a little, not clearly more like being in a haze of a memory.

Ravin suggested we go to the Beach or The Waterfall she said, as if they were the only two options they had available he's probably right that i'd fall down the mountain she said, her voice pitched lower even knowing Ravin could probably still hear her and Mom probably wouldn't let me out of her sight again if i got hurt she shook her head, not wanting to be tethered to her mother again if she couldn't help it.

(ooc: sorry for the time delay... i kind of forgot to check this board.. lol)

Wynters announces that her mother has given permission for her to leave the Gates, and Luvi’s brows lift in surprise. She glances toward her brother, whose silent nod confirms, and her grin grows wider.

“I think we should go to the Mountain.” Luvi says, ignoring the surprise on her taller brother’s face. She flicks her still damp tail, then adds conspiratorially: “If you come back able to breathe fire, I bet your mom would be more willing to let you go on more adventures.”

Though Luvi does not know of anyone who has been granted fire-breathing by the things that live in the Mountain, that certainly seems like something they’d be capable of doing. And breathing fire would certainly scare off any wolf or bear or biting snake, the biggest dangers that Luvi knows of. And perhaps the Mountain might give me a gift as well, Luvi does not say aloud. She barely dares to think it, lest Ravin guess at it by her expression alone.

Instead, she only watches Wynters, her brows lifted in anticipation and inquiry.

The filly tilts her head slight at Luvi's explanation of fire breathing.
What's up the mountain then? I doubt anything that could make me breath fire, although that would be seriously cool she says, her eyes lighting up with interest.

Excited as she was, she was almost bouncing from hoof to hoof.

I don't mind where we go really, just as long as we can leave like, now! she says before glancing back at her mother before she has any thought of changing her mind the filly says with a urgency in her voice, she wouldn't put it past her over protective mother to start to worry and either stop her from joining the siblings, or gods forbid decide to join them! She definitely didn't want to be that youngster, who's mother follow her around!
