    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

The young stallion made his way toward the edge of the river. He wasn't exactly sure what had brought him here. Maybe he was searching for a place to call home, or perhaps he was looking to find friends. He stopped once he reached the edge of the water he lowered his head and took a small drink of water. He had thought that he had heard something and looked in that direction.

The autumn air is warm and smells of leaves and sunshine. There is no floral scent at all, I note, save for the perpetual aroma of the Gates that lingers on my golden coat. I take another, deeper breath, and smile.

Perhaps this is what Ravin had meant when he’d said it felt good to get away from home every now and then.

Ahead of me, someone stands along the path. Unaccustomed to seeing others, I smile excitedly and pick up my pace until I stand before him.

I look over this unfamiliar stranger. He is tall, and his legs are a darker shade of orange than any lilly I’d seen, and are offset by the warm brown of the rest of his coat. As someone equally accented (my golden coat is highlighted by the many shades of sunset in my feathers) and appreciative of beauty, I find them interesting.

“Hello. I’m Luvi. I’ve not seen you before; do you come here a lot?”
