    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

and I know everything must die but nothing fades like the light

"Hmm," the golden man hums to himself, settling his gray gaze on the ominous ocean before him, then adding, "The people were different." He ponders Nash's words, getting stuck on the little nuances, the need, the honesty. He finds he must remain silent for a while to really comprehend his brother's meaning. In that time, his eyes close. He almost looks peaceful.

"There's nothing wrong with you, Little Feather," Elio states slowly, quirking his lips up at the nickname. The semi-smile slips its hold quickly, though, for the striped man can sense how serious their relationship has and will become.

They are no longer simple tree-dwellers, hopeful and surprised. Now, united by a confusion neither can seem to describe, the brothers settle into a discomfort. It weighs painfully on the stallion's shoulders, and for the first time since he was a boy, Elio loses control of his magic. The bewilderment and love come pouring out of him, ruthless like the rush of a burst dam.

"I'm so sorry," Lio says after a two-second pause, his emotions once again tucked inside him.

"What do you mean? You can feel me?"
