She cared not about her mother’s feelings towards her, or for anything regarding her mother really. She’d been shunned at birth, Bathory had hated her from the start. Esterra had barely been able to even drink milk as a foal, Empyrea often had to reason with Bathory just so that she could eat. Despite the fact that their mother hated the both of them, for some reason she listened to her colourful sister. Empyrea would try to talk Esterra into traveling with her, saying that time away from their mother would help her feel better. While she was correct, the dappled filly did not wish to travel with anyone, and chose to keep to herself.
Once she was old enough to live without her mother’s help, she left their small family. Feeling unwanted, anger filled her and dominated her thoughts as well as her actions. One marbled hoof in front of the other, she forged forward. The forest was quiet, save for the rustling of leaves and the sound of the river rushing nearby. It was peaceful here, which offered an opportunity for her to take respite.
Taking in a deep breath, she allowed her grey form to lower itself to the leaf ridden ground. Esterra laid her head in the leaves, shutting her eyes and focusing only on the sounds of the forest. Here, she could be alone, she could let go of her anger.
