    Assailant -- Year 226

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Hearing thd words settled something in her, her eyes tracking the 3 youngsters, a faint smile flicking over her features.

At the unfamiliar touch she stiffens in surprise, but with a deep breath and closed eyes she relaxes, taking the comfort the other mare offers. She hadn't realised how much she needed the small kind gesture.

I knew from the moment I realised she was there that I didn't want her to be a pawn in some political game she said quietly, not wanting the young to hear her.

I don't know how you've manage with 2 to care for she chu% ckles I barely managed with one, going on the run whilst carry, struggling to find a safe place for her to come into this world and then making her move to the point of exhaustion. I hardly feel I've done the right thing by her. The last part is said with a hint of sadness.
