    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

I’ve bled for less, for sure, then best…

An ear twitches atop her horned head as the sound of someone swishing the meadow grass grew closer, her inky eyes shifting, they locked onto the dark stranger. Stranger? No...It had been a long, long time ago but she remembered this stallion. They had met when she returned to the Chamber after her stint as a prisoner in the Tundra with her son Noctus in tow. Noctus...she tried to push the thought of him out of her head before any anger showed on her face. The dark stallion's name jogs her memory further and she realized he was the prior commander of the Chamber, though he does not seem to carry that same heady scent of shadow and pine. As her eyes flash with recognition she dipped her refined and scarred face in greeting, once a Chamberling, always a Chamberling. "Indeed I am.", she responds smoothly with a slightly crooked smile that pulls at the corners of her velveteen lips. "It's been a while, Warship. Shadowmere." Giving him her name in the same fashion, she too does not offer her title nor does she mention his. For now they were just two kindred shadows in a colorful landscape.

The dark queen bobs her horned head in the direction of the Chamber, her own rough voice sounding somewhat like a raven's, though it always had sounded that way. "Though my heart beats for the Chamber, this damned winter rivals the old Tundra. My coat has never been able go grow thick for the season...", there was a hint of bittersweet humor to her voice as she spoke. The warm sun that cast its light down upon them warming her very bones, it was a delightful respite from the Chamber's bitter cold. It had been so long since she had an actual conversation with someone that was not hostile or manipulative, and not with one of her retched offspring. She had to admit it was refreshing to speak with someone like this, it was rare and he was someone she knew from what felt like another lifetime ago. "So, what brings you out of the shadows? I can guess it would not be for sunning yourself?", she says as she looks over the wolf-ish old general with a small glimmer of humor lighting in her black eyes. She had no idea how to converse as others did, socializing never came easily to the dark queen. Though, she quite liked the company of this dark wolf and she tried her best to hold an air of grace and mystery as she spoke. In the past, she would have been defensive, hostile, and crude. Now that she was to lead the kingdom, she was determined to be a leader the Chamber could be proud of.
