    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

The day was warm despite it being autumn, and the green striped fae emerged from the shelter of the forest to wander. She had never settled in one place and always seeming to drift like the breeze from one land to another, though one place always seemed to whisper her name. She knew of the Dale, had heard tales of it, had seen it flying above in her wanderings...but never stopped to admire the beautiful lake within and the rocky exterior that felt stable and safe. A feeling she never felt before. Gelfling effortlessly glided along well trodden pathways and through woods with the aid of her large iridescent purple gossamer wings  swirling with black veins and tattered edges. She nodded as she passed by creatures big and small, cooing to birds and snorting huffs of gentle air at butterflies as she went. She was truly a creature with a deep love and connection with the land and all the creatures who dwell within it. Though, she was not all flowery sweetness, any who would dare to disrupt nature with malice in their hearts would feel her thorns...

She arrived to the rocky outcrop of the territory at last, drawing in a deep breath of the clean air here that smelled of clear water and greenery and savored the fresh breeze that wistfully tossed her dark green mane about her striped neck and face. Her body weaved as she danced lightly in a circle upon the rocks. Her hooves barely making a sound and her body continued to move with unnaturally fluidity. She felt as if she were being watched, but it felt almost like a curiously wary gaze rather than hostile. She whispered her odd faespeak into the air, her voice as sweet as wildflower honey dripping from velvet lips, "Here I be, will you welcome me? I wish to stay, do not turn me away...I wish to stay, I wish to stay.". She continued her dance at  the edge of the territory, awaiting any who would come to allow her entry. She yearned to see the Dale beyond, felt as if this place could truly be her home.
