and when i breathed
my breath was lightning
Rhy’s pretty hard to hurt, in truth. There’s something really handy in the ability to turn ethereal, after all. It takes colliding right out of the question, if Rhy’s quick enough (and she usually is, though not always). Besides, a little bruise never hurt anyone. This is the Amazons after all, and though Rhy may advocate for peace, she does know how to fight. Knows pain far worse than any damage a girl could do by accidentally colliding into her (the fire, on the other hand, would probably hurt, though Rhy isn’t sure if she’d actually burn or not, since her own electric doesn’t hurt her).
Rhy waits in the brush, trying to keep as quiet as possible. She can hear Draconis shuffling around nearby, slowly but steadily growing closer to Rhy’s hiding spot. When the girl is nearly there, Rhy practically holds her breath. But it doesn’t matter. It’s not long before the girl’s nose is pressed to Rhy’s. She lets out a big puff of breath, and then a laugh, before crawling out of the brush. She doesn’t shift this time, because she figures having a lion staring you in the face is probably unnerving, and she won’t do that to Draconis quite yet.
It’s a whole lot harder getting out in horse form, and she scrapes her side here and there, though the marks only blend in with the other scars that dot her hide. The most noticeable scar is still the large white patch from where the ice monster at the end of the world burned her coat. Luckily for her, she’s already dotted in white patches, so typically the scar just blends in to the rest of her.
When she’s finally out, she grins at the girl, adding, “Do you want to know my secret?” Out here, the girl can see exactly what’s going on. And so she shifts, shrinking in size, the white patches on her coat turning to solid gold in this form. It’s only moments before she’s a lion, all teeth and claws, though the same eyes as her horse form. She doesn’t stay that way too long, shifting back once she thinks Draconis has had her fill of looking at Rhy the Lioness. “One of a few tricks I might have up my sleeve.”
