    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    Ill Never Forget You -[Belgaer]

    Belgaer
Sandwiched between the meadow and the river, Belgaer had often escaped to the comfort of the trees’ embrace. Flying across the sea had been an easy enough task and had offered him an outlet to explore his curiosity. As a foal he’d heard tales of the desolation of Taiga – the wrath of the fairies after it’s caretakers had quarreled amongst themselves. Many lives had been lost, but a lesson had been learned. Many a times, despite his parents bidding that he’d refrain, he’d made the journey to the forest and sat himself on the opposite side of the river. From there he’d search for signs of life within Taiga, signs that there was hope that it would overcome the horror of it’s past. Slowly, over the years, he’d begun to see a slow healing take place, but he still liked to stand on the banks of the river and mark the changes since his last visit.

Young, though he was, Belgaer felt as though his soul had aged past his number of years. Presented with the beauty before him, he sensed the tingling of youth within her. Like him, however, the lighthearted laughter masked an uncertainty deep set within her gaze. By her own admission, she was just returning to Beqanna after a prolonged absence and he couldn’t help but wonder what had driven her away initially.

Josie, she called herself. A simple name, but beautiful to his ears. She held herself with a maturity that, he feared, surpassed his own.

”Josie, I am Belgaer, son of Brennen,” he’s hoped that, perhaps, his father’s name would be of some comfort to her as she returned to Beqanna. Like him, Brennen had been gifted with immortality and he’d met many a horse in his time. Bred with even more, he thought wryly. ”I am not certain of the Beqanna you left, but there are a few kingdoms to offer you their safety. I reside in Ischia alongside my family and am on my way there now. If you’d like, I can show you the way?”

He hoped that his offer didn’t come across as overly ambitious. As an aspiring diplomat he knew he was expected to recruit, something that he’d never been entirely comfortable with. Diplomatic missions were more his speed. Still, he kept a friendly smile upon his face as he awaited the mare’s reply.
