    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    When rain appears - Any
    #2
The loud cry of a falcon echoed over the expanse of Nerine's meadow, drawing any passerby's attention to the proud creature soaring through the sky. A strong breeze caught the bird's wings and lifted him higher into the sky, his piercing eyes scanning the ground below for a source of food. He spotted something on the ground, but upon seeing it was far too big for his little beak, and that it appeared to be moving quite fast, he moved on to find a meal elsewhere.

The creature the falcon spotted briefly disappeared into a small expanse of trees that stretched past the forest that lined one side of Nerine, the only sound that signaled its presence being the thundering of hooves upon the ground. When the tree line broke, the filly appeared again, her gray and white painted form racing across the meadow to the top of a small hill that was near the meadow's edge.

When she hit the top of the hill, the filly reared back, flapping her wings in a show of exhilaration. When she came back down, her hooves striking the ground, the filly shook her head and neck to try and get her mane to one side, a light sheen of sweat lining her elegant body.

Nalia's calm, careful gaze swept over the edge of Nerine, the border not far from where she stood. Her nostrils were flared with each breath she took, the breeze in the air ruffling her feathered wings. Since her arrival in Nerine, the filly had grown exponentially, physically, mentally, and in spirit. No longer was she the same free spirit she was when she was even younger than now. She still liked to have fun and go exploring, but since her training began, learning to be a diplomat in addition to receiving warrior training so she could defend herself, she'd matured, knowing she had very important responsibilities to uphold.

And that included greeting newcomers, whether she was the first one to spot them or not. In this case, it seemed she was. The filly spotted another horse a few dozen yards away, a gray it seemed. Wondering if this was another visitor who'd been here before, like Castile, the filly decided to investigate, walking down the hill and picking her pace up to a canter instead of flying over.

When she got closer to the mare, Nalia slowed down to a walk again. Giving a friendly smile, she spoke up, noting the other horse was a dappled gray in color, almost a molting look, and while she was taller than Nalia, she didn't look to be much older than the filly.

"Hello there," the filly said. "My name's Nalia. Welcome to Nerine. Have you been here before? Are you new? What's your name?"
