Jacque was simply wandering. Well, he had been a wanderer for such a long time, that it seemed a part of him. It was natural, and calming. It was a form of therapy for him, served to relax him and calm him. Four years, he had gone without companionship, only an occasional conversation here or there had pulled him back from the edge of insanity. Now, here he was, his new home, and new characters to get to know.
He had come to the meadow on the advice of a member of the Falls, but he was wondering whether it was a good idea; all the horses here were starting to make him uneasy. He guessed - no, hoped - that his anxiety was just a temporary confidence issue, but another, more cynical part of him doubted this. And yet another part of him knew he'd just have to wait and find out.
That was how he stumbled upon the green mare, first just a glance, but then, after his brain had processed the unusual but equally beautiful shimmering coat, he felt himself drawn to her, fascinated by her emerald complexion. The sensible part of him questioned the reckless part of him, and the only sane part of him sighed inwardly. Perhaps those years alone had done more damage than he would admit.
