    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

yet our roots remain as one

He is more than a little nervous as he makes the long drive from wherever he was coming from. He wasn't even sure why exactly. Of course he was so excited to see his family again, especially Scorch and Hestoni. His heart had nearly leapt from his chest when he'd gotten the message that they were hosting this gathering- by phone of course, because Simeon hadn't stayed anywhere long enough to receive any mail. Bless his parents that they expected this of him, and never held it against him. When he'd last left, he made sure they'd had his number so that they could get in touch, regardless of reason. It'd been so long, though, and he was more than ready to see them again. Maybe his nerves were more for the siblings that were supposed to be there as well. That had to be it. He wasn't sure how many family members were coming, nor how many of them he knew. It didn't really matter to him, he already loved them all the same, but what would they think of him? He was the first born son, he had an image to uphold! Some job he'd done of it though, having been gone more often than he'd been around. His wanderer's spirit had always gotten the better of him. He'd wanted to see the world and what it had in store, and that he had.

Simeon's heart fluttered as he pulled his Jeep into the driveway, the vehicle only equipped with a radio and off-road tires. The thing did horribly on gas, but he loved it. He could go anywhere in this thing (when he wasn't hoofing it, that is). Down shifting, he brought her to a stop beside the other two cars already parked and climbed on out. Shutting the door, he turned to the ginormous house of his childhood, taking it all in. Sim is tall, muscular and broad. He wore dark blue jeans, tightened with a brown leather belt that matched his hiking boots. He had on a white tank top, only visible at his chest where his blue-plaid shirt was loosely buttoned at the top. Honestly, these were the nicest clothes he owned, seeking comfort over fashion. His skin is tan, bronzed by many days spent out in the sun, and his dark brown hair hung to his shoulders in light waves. He had thought to shave, but cursed by Italian genes, he already had a five o'clock shadow.

Taking a deep breath, he made his way to the door, where a younger dark-haired man leaned against the frame. A grin splayed wide across Simeon's face as he recognizes him, and he couldn't stop himself from somewhat roughly clasping his younger brother by the shoulders and then ruffling his hair, laughing. "Well I'll be damned! If it isn't my kid brother, Shah. Look at you! How the hell are you?" It'd been far too long. The last time he'd seen him, he'd been far younger. Stepping through the threshold, he gave Shahrizai a friendly shove before turning to see his twin older sisters and a younger girl beside them. "And so glad to see my beautiful sisters here, too." His excitement could not be contained as he then turned rich brown eyes to where his father must be standing by now, and immediately he goes in for a hug. "Papa, it's been too long! Where's Mom?" He said, before pulling back to look around.
