    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

The black stallion laid eyes on the white, he is pleased to see a fellow winged creature - not that he prefers them; it is simply nice to know that he is not the only one. Chiral had heard of this place, Beqanna in his travels, had heard it was populated with equine with extraordinary gifts, stemming from some sort of magic they lived close to. The concept intrigued the stud, excited his sense of adventure. But this place had proved to be somewhat less than he expected - he had heard rumors of a disaster of some sort, though accounts varied widely about what exactly happened.

The other introduces himself and leaves an open ended question, there is no hostility in his tone - a good sign. A nation at war is unlikely to be friendly to outsiders.
"Greetings Tiphon, I am Chiral." He responded politely and accompanied it with a bow of his head, showing his respect for the other. "I admire this place, it has appealing qualities. I hope I would not be intruding if I asked to be shown around, and perhaps to settle here." Chiral tried to make his request as inviting as possible, for truly this island appealed the most of all the lands he had seen thus far. Chirl was by no means a loner, but he was not opposed to solitude, and he suspected that this spit of an island was somewhat less populated than other places. He wondered how many lived here, but felt it an was an  inappropriate question to ask.

He glanced to the mainland, a fair distance away, especially if one was to swim, as Chiral was sure some had done. Actually swimming was most difficult and unpleasant, or so the black equine thought. Between swimming and sand it was difficult to tell which he disliked more. Perhaps examining other realms would not be a terrible idea if this one proved to be contradictory to his preferences.

"Is there a tide that makes swimming to the mainland easier?" It was an odd question for one flyer to ask another, but Chiral found his curiosity somewhat aroused by the thought of someone thinking it was worth it to make such a trek.
