    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

I am not afraid... I was born to do this.
For decades, Nayl had been elusive to the concept of love and family. It was a foreign thing that she evaded so that she may better focus on her own selfish ambitions. With minimal effort, she achieved so much within a little time, but with the distractions clouding her eyes, she fell.

The empire that she was building has begun to crumble. She should have passed her crown while Beqanna squirmed in her hands, but she had no one. Now, her mind sees herself scavenging for the remnants of her power; she refuses to let it entirely slip through her fingers.

And so she finds the one mare who had shown a fire in her soul, a taste of poison on her tongue. Although it has been a while since their paths crossed, Nayl’s memory still reflects bemusedly at City’s involvement in the gladiator pit. She wanted to face others, to feed her need for battle. Despite the misconduct of ignoring her Queen’s instructions, Nayl could not help but smile at the vigor and incentive.

The sand grumbles underfoot, hissing beneath each footstep until she stops once having found her. ”City,” her voice is ever hardened like iron, steady even as her eyes blaze with the colors of autumn. She half expects her children to be nearby but doesn’t bother to look, keeping her attention funneled on the huntress. ”You will help me in taking charge of the fighters. Each one of us needs to have the skill. Due to low numbers, the concept of individual castes was removed in addition to taking a different stance from the old Amazonian ways. With this change, however, there is stagnation. This, obviously, needs to change.” A brow lifts from underneath her forelock, her shoulders rolling as she struggles to admit her faults (love distracted her, family distracted her). ”Are you up for the challenge?”
