    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    Solace

Solace is glad that Keeper so easily accepted her company. In Tephra, her playmates had always been male, her biggest role-model is her father, and Tephra's king was - a King. Her world have been painfully lacking in femmale influences. The young mare had spent her first winter hoping Tang would birth a little sister for her, but her mother had disapered before that could hapen.

(She did not know that her mother had given birth to a half-sister that spring - that Keeper had actually seen this girl.)

Keeper gives her something which had always been lacking in her life, and any of Keepers odd mannerisms are only seen as endearing quirks.

Solace feels a little guilty as Keeper uncomfortably searches for an answer. "Its ok, she probably never stayed for long." Her mothers Morgan blood had given her the arched neck, set high on the shoulders, and her muzzle was rather small... but for the most part, her father Mustang heritage had won out. The bright golden splash along her top-line was the clearest connection to the buckskin overo Tangerine.

Then suddenly Solace is halting, unsure exactly where she went wrong, and afraid to do more damage. She had only asked about the obvious, and the panic which swiftly overtakes Keepers features startles Solace. Blinking her round blue eyes, she halts, wondering where she went wrong. "I'm sorry." She mummers before even realizing she had spoken. But the dunskin trudges on, watching her own paws as she ambles along the lakeshore.

    Paws.

Something like a resigned sigh comes from the bear-mare and Solace cautiously returns to Kepper's side. She listens intently, just now realizing that this is new information to the shifter... But she can't fully understand why she seems to see this as a bad change.

"Hey, there are worse things to find out... worse things than discovering you can transform into a kick-ass grizzly." Solace nudges the mare on her shoulder, trying to draw out the care-free smile she had glimpsed earlier.

"Come on, let's race to the border! We will find out if bears or plain old horses are faster!"

    you are my sunshine
