“Hello, the other mare greats.
The fleabitten mare’s tone and gaze match her own though. It concerns Lucrezia immediately, but she does not show her apprehension on her features. She conceals them well as she always has done since she was taught the skill of hiding her expressions. It was a diplomatic trick at its finest. However, she taught such skills long before she had ever chosen to join the ranks of politics. It was a skill that once an upon a time ago was used to benefit the Chamber—now a drowned kingdom.
A silence hung between them, but she does not say anything just wait. She didn’t exactly like the idea of a stranger wandering right into Tephra unannounced. More than ever she was on high alert ever since she had come back to her home. Too many events added up to make her feel unease. It only made her become more protective of the others and home she loved so much.
“City, huh?” she asks with a tilt of her head. Her town is softer this time, but still her words hold the hint of boldness in them. She watches as the mare’s gaze lifts above her. Lucrezia already knows what lies behind her. She knows what she might see, what might have drawn City to Tephra.
However, it’s the mare’s next words that pull the ends of her mask away.
“Warrick?” She questions the mare. Her expression turns a bit to sadness when she says his name. The multi-colored mare couldn’t help but feel sad in the moment. It had not been that long ago when Warrick had left for Hyaline to be with his family until the disease finally would consumed him. “No, I’m afraid not. Warrick left Tephra.” She doesn’t give the location where he has gone to. Something within Lucrezia isn’t quite sure why this mare has come looking for Warrick. Instead, she insists on finding out exactly why.
“Why?”
