    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    She's got the devil's eyes

Given the wild, unpredictable nature of Beqanna, Heartfire has developed a fair amount of familiarity with the sudden shifts that could occur within a body or land with little to no warning. She has seen these stories over and over again, seen outcomes both fruitful and disastrous. In her experience, those outcomes seem to depend largely on the one experiencing such a shift.

Still, it is an unpredictable thing, and she does not have the power to tell when or where such things might occur (did she have, she might be a very different woman than she is). And that makes such events quite intriguing to her. Of course, it isn’t until she spies her wayward aunt that she knows any such thing might have occurred. But as she peers through her particularly unique lens, curiosity burgeons and she shifts her course to meet the roan woman.

Heartfire had noticed her absences of course, but that is not what interests her. She knows her family well enough to know their feet might wander, but they would always return. It is a particularly bad habit of those in her lineage. Indeed, the ones that stay seem to be the outliers far more than the ones that go. She could hardly blame her for something so rampantly prevalent. Especially considering that had her own ambition not tethered her here, she might have otherwise been much the same.

“It seems congratulations are in order.” Her lips twitch faintly as she greets Sarkis, her vibrant blue eyes glinting as she considers her. A sharp and curious kind of knowledge. “Care to take a walk with me?”

She suspects they may need some privacy. And perhaps a little space.

and they'll cut you like a weapon
