    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

She was the daughter of two star-crossed lovers. Her father was lost in a sea of darkness, and her mother drowned in his waves of despair.

She was a twin. Her brother frightened her. The voices in his head drove him from his family and soon, she never saw him again.

And despite the dark world she was born into—Chasity danced.

She survived in the sanctuary of her own mind, created a world of magic and child-like wonder. She danced with the butterflies, sang with the bluebirds as they chirruped their honey-sweet tune. She whispered to the oak trees and listened to their ancient tales of years past. She was made of stardust and dreams. She believed, and thus she thrived.

She found a home. There, she grew from a lanky legged child of neglect into a beautiful mare.  She was a butterfly goddess, with a crown of daisies atop her head. She danced through life, rose petals thread through the silken strands of her mane.

    One day, she found love.

It was the most beautiful love the world could know; his heart and hers irrevocably entwined. And while her dear one held her close, she birthed two perfect children under the shimmering stars.

She was a Queen, some many moons ago. She channelled the magic of the Dazzling Waterfalls and it flowed through her veins. She ruled with all the strength and kindness that she had to give. And when she surrendered her crown, she held her lover’s hand and together they danced away into the sunset.
Chasity lived a fulfilling life, of friends and family and laughter.

    She was gentle and wise.

    She was kind.

    She was.

    She is…

She is in a forest. She has not been here before, yet it feels familiar. The way the trees whisper; the sound of the birdsong. She imagines that she can feel invisible threads of magic woven through the earth and the sky, binding her once again to the land and the trees and the creatures that thrive within it. Beqanna. It has called her home.

Her heart begins to flutter, though she treads with caution, for she knows this is not the land that she left behind. It is different, somehow. Changed.

    How did she get here?

Her thoughts bend and blur as she struggles to recall.

She does not know how long it has been since she last walked the travel-worn paths of Beqanna. Timelines swirl in her mind. All she knows is that she is here, now, and oh the forest is beautiful. She gazes at the shades of green in the canopy above and her hesitation gives way to a smile.

    Beqanna.

A new chapter in her fairytale.
