    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    Gale
    run away with me--
    lost souls and reverie

    running wild and running free

It is not often that the brindle stallion leaves his tropical home for the mainland of Beqanna, but as an autumn thunderstorm swept across the island, Gale seeks drier pastures.

Today he finds himself in the Field, a place that he has not been since Ruinam had first invited him to the Island Resort. Four years have passed since that encounter, and in that time Gale has gone from being a fresh recruit to the island’s chief, and grown from a gawky adolescent to a fully grown stallion.

He turns heads as he makes his way through the autumn-gold grasses, a handsome navy stallion with a snowy white mane that runs the length of his spine, spiraling ivory horns, and matching feathered wings. The streaks of white along his neck and shoulders are mostly hidden by the long fall of his mane, but even without them he is a difficult creature to miss.

So too is the pinto mare in front of him, illuminated by the rising sun. She is one of the few creatures awake so early, and Gale moves toward her.

“Hello!” he calls, settling a comfortable distance away from her. Near enough to talk, but hopefully not enough to make her feel uncomfortable or pressured. “My name is Gale. Are you here in search of a home?”
