    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    sea gone black

The fairy she'd encountered atop the Mountain had not coincided with Oceane's imaginings of the Beqannan fairies at all ─ it had presented itself as small and rattish, though she does consider that its appearance had likely been presented as such by choice. A far cry from the arithmancers of Nau-Aib, who wore their omnipotent sorcery like gilded robes and heavy crowns.

Yet the small creature had been mighty, and not thirty minutes after her arduous trek to the Mountain's peak was Oceane invisible at the hands of the fairy's magic. Invisible, both visually and olfactory, to try her hand at Pangea's techniques. The imperceptible mare had retreated from the peak feeling particularly glum.

The task presented to her, and the decision that ensued, have proven difficult. There are too many potential alliances she has yet to secure for Loess ─ she thinks of Aquaria, Leilan, and Gale, knowing fully well that she cannot, and will not, target any of the territories associated with them and their kingdoms. Aside from her own, that leaves one potential target, and that realization has left a perpetual grimace on the mare’s invisible face.

From the Mountain, she had flown directly to Hyaline and landed almost inaudibly by the crystalline lake at its center. Others meandered in the distance, though without a visual form, Oceane had gone on unnoticed. For a few days she wandered the wisteria and red maple, daring to venture close enough to hear conversations but not close enough to potentially alert the residents to her indiscernible presence.

Though she made Hyaline her temporary home for a few days, it was within the first that Oceane decided who she was going to attempt to pilfer for Loess. And despite the way her conscience jerked against the actions she was preparing to take, she wasn’t willing to fail Loess again. She had sought help from the fairies for a reason, and now was time to follow through.

Her predicament reminds her of Fiorina, and a small smile of relief pulls at the woman’s invisible lips. Perhaps by the time they cross paths next, the xenomorph woman will have regained her sight, and that will settle the nagging worry in Oceane’s head that she will forever remain unseen.

She follows her quarry for two full days, quietly in wait for an optimal time to scurry her over Hyaline’s western border. When, finally, dusk gives way to twilight and Breach is patrolling the western edge of her kingdom, Oceane assumes leadership of the situation ─

“Breach,” she whispers quietly, the sound of her disembodied voice filling the space between them as she attempts to coax the metallic mare closer to her voice and across the threshold from Hyaline to Loess, “Is that you, Breach?”

Oceane is invisible until she completes her current quest.

To complete her personal quest, Oceane of Loess is attempting to steal Breach of Hyaline for one BQ season.
