    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Humans. They're a distant memory for the little bay, a genetic memory more than anything else, the vague understanding of danger any prey creature might keep buried in the corridors of their minds. Popinjay had never actually met a human before, but, somewhere, some part of her understands what they are - or at least, what they represent outside of a place like Beqanna. Here, though, here they've never walked.

(Except that they have, decades ago, centuries ago, and the strange landscape of Islandres is the proof of it. She doesn't know that, though. Is there anyone alive except the Fairies who remembers Beqanna's people?)

"Never seen a dragon?" The Rook is fascinated by the concept of a ship, but a dragon? It's nearly ordinary, every-day. She considers Ghaul, horn-eyes and scaled, his mouth full of fire, and she considers the ice-king Leilan with his great bat wings and dangerous teeth.

"Oh yes! My territory is part of a kingdom ruled by one. He's not the only dragon here, either, the whole continent is just crawling with the things."

She grins, wide, bright, and tosses her head a little, as if to say it's no big deal. Dragons are easy to handle, her expression says. Others might disagree, but Poppy has never been turned off by a little chaos - or a lot of chaos - and that's exactly the sort of thing that seems to follow dragons.

Maybe that's why she likes them so much.

She's itching to get back to the subject of the ship but Fenestra doesn't seem as eager to discuss it for some reason. Perplexed, she carries on.

"You'll almost certainly meet a dragon at some point. Although they don't all turn into dragons completely, some of them just have pieces of dragon woven into their skin." The magic is unpredictable, wild, as hard to catch as the Fairies that spin it like silk. "Most of them live to the south in Pangea, but the North has a few ice dragons, too. But like I said, you don't have to try hard to find 'em. The kelpies are much more difficult to catch. Slippery, y'know? And they can hypnotize you. And, honestly, you won't ever see one of the Shadows unless they want you to cuz, well, they just look like shadows."

Beqanna has many more wonders than just dragons.

Again I ask you to forgive my slow posting. BUT @[Fenestra] can go anywhere she doesn't have to wait to be recruited to go where she wants!
