    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

don't be afraid of the fire, I'd never let you burn

If Fiorina had not been warned by her daughter, she would have assumed this was a child she had somehow forgotten about. None of her partners had been rainbow, though she wasn’t sure that mattered in the bizarre world they were living in. The wings reminded her of Ghaul - but Derelict and Ozorne’s birth had been dramatic and frustrating and she absolutely would have remembered a third.

She’s actually bizarrely relieved the wings are not feathered for two insane reasons. One, it keeps her jealousy to a minimum (handy, considering as she approaches Fio is already aware she’s probably about to adopt this youth). And two, if there were feathers Fiorina would have to wonder whether she had somehow accidentally created a child with Oceane via the same magic that had created Drear, Pax, and Agathe.

Thankfully, that is not a problem she is having to face.

So Fiorina may not be sure which one of her various relations spawned this creature, but the faint smile that appears on her expression isn’t false. The fire from her horns flickers in bright, obscene contrast to the eternal night around them - and she notes with interest how it catches on the faint iridescence of the girl’s coat. “Nyet?” She asks as she comes to stand nearby - as if there was another half-monster she had been waiting to meet. “I’m Fiorina, Derelict told me to expect you.”

There’s a promise to be had out of the girl but Fiorina decides not to launch into it immediately. Her manner is relaxed but alert - though Nyet is younger than her, Fiorina knows perfectly well how dangerous their family is right from the beginning. “How are you?” The question is… a little awkward on the delivery. It feels like an appropriate thing to ask though, right? And she is curious - mostly she just wants to get the girl talking. See what she’s dealing with feral-level wise.
