    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Helion’s just thankful that his question about whether Isere was a sun didn’t earn him a round of mocking or scorn. She doesn’t seem to mind, even taking it under consideration which he is immensely grateful for. And then he is delighted by the spread of a sly grin that spreads across her face, lighting it up in a whole new way.

His own grin grows in kind until a burst of laughter escapes at her comment about being brighter than him. It was probably true in more ways than one. “If you asked my sister, she’d say it wouldn’t take much effort to be brighter than me.” And he would be mostly sure that Cressida was joking when she said it too.

When prompted to ask nicely to see if Isere is the sun, the silver-horned boy needs to pause and think for a moment. He's forgotten about the snow, and hasn't even fully registered the slush that they are creating with their combined warmth beneath their hooves. Whether she's a sun or not, this glowing girl has at least made him forget the misery of this season.

Now, he had thought that he had asked nicely the first time so he supposes there needs to be a bit of effort to try to make it extra nice this time around. Helion's eyes focus on her, on the glowing eyes he’s incredibly jealous of, and he takes a small step closer as he asks in a soft and low voice “Are you the sun, Isere?”
