    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

The sun goes down; the stars come out

Sakari, being the young and curious three-year-old that she was, listened intently to Pevensie, her dark eyes entranced. She nodded at the older mare's words and stepped after her, pricking her silver ears. Who knows? Maybe she'll learn something new here in the Desert of Beqanna.

Unaware of Pevensie's thoughts, Sakari was instead daydreaming of what the Desert might look like. Would it be vast expanses of sand, or rocks and cacti? Would there be a lot of horses? Would there be any Arabians, like her? She lifted her dished head, her nostrils trembling as she inhaled a scent. The silver girl was young and inexperienced, and she was already thinking of exploring some new plot of land.

Then Pevensie's next words hit her ears, and Sakari glanced over at her. "Oh, thanks for offering. But we'll see how I fare in the desert first." Her tone was, as usual, friendly and lighthearted, and the sweet girl nickered to Pevensie in a friendly way. "I'd like that," she added softly in response to Pevensie's last sentence. It would do good for her to finally have a lasting friendship, and though they'd only just met, Sakari liked Pevensie. She seemed worldly-wise, yet generous and accommodating all the same.

Hearing a whinny behind them, Sakari jumped, startled. She spun around to see the pinto stallion from earlier following them. She hadn't caught his name, and for a moment she was curious. Perhaps it would be good to meet him. Then again, maybe he was coming with them? Did Pevensie know him? she wondered.
