    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

It had always been the hardest for her to watch them suffer.
The other fairies were right, of course; their children had taken advantage of their kindness. But they’d apologized, reformed, and the fairies were always willing to forgive.
She appears suddenly and silently in the playground: her favorite place.
She doesn’t call for anyone -- the other fairies had instructed her to not make herself easily noticed (a difficult feat for a bright blue horse that adorns herself with jewelry and glitter). She only waits.

(The first two horses to reply to this *without their powers restored* will have their powers granted immediately. They then have 1 BQ year (2 RL months) to pass this power on to 5 other horses - IN CHARACTER. You may NOT play the other horses. You can use it as a bargaining chip, or grant limitations if you so choose.

'Post coming' posts do not count and will be deleted. Reply in character only!

Players who 'won' any of the previous power restoration posts are not eligible to reply.)

Exist had been born on the mountain, born dressed in the traits she would one day grow into. She had felt them glow warm and bright in her veins, had even loved the pull of the wings against her withers when she tried to open her eyes and struggle awake. But wakefulness had not come for the tiny child, only for the twin who had been born before her. Where Leliana had wiggled and fussed and opened bright, beautiful eyes, Exist had stilled and withered and felt the cold creep in to steal away all previous warmth.

She had been born to die.
    Without Leliana, she would have.

If I exist, then you exist. Her sister had whispered into the curve of an apricot ear, and then with a brown neck slung across Exist’s impossibly thin back, Leliana had healed her. It felt like stealing warmth, and at first she didn’t like it, didn’t like taking so much from her other half. But the more Leliana poured into her, the more she was able to push back. Magic spoke to magic, and it woke with a quiet roar inside her until finally her eyes did flutter open and they lay together not out of desperation, but out of reflex. Tangled safely, happily together as they had been inside mothers womb.

Leaving the mountain was hard, to feel the magic siphoned from her veins and watch their wings turn to dust and fall away from their backs. It felt like leaving someone behind, someone important. But as she had looked between the faces of her mother (drawn and tired, wounded) and her sister (so bright, so perfect) she had pushed that feeling back and away, burying it because other things mattered more.

But when the blue mare appears in all her gleaming wonder, interrupting the play of the twins where they remained hidden in a smaller clearing dappled with sunlight, Exist could not help but be drawn to her – to the blue and the bright and the impossible. To things that reminded her of the ache she had buried in the deepest parts of her heart. She is quiet when she comes, wide-eyed and only a little uncertain, and touches her nose to a color that had always been so familiar, a blue that darkened the bottoms of her own apricot legs. “Hello,” she says in a birdsong voice, turning back only once to look to where she had left her sister, and then as if it weren’t entirely obvious to this strange mare, “i’m blue, too.” She hesitates and tilts her head a little, casting a glance around to see if there were other foals who had gathered nearby. “Are you looking for someone? Maybe I could help.”

She is - for once - in the right place at the right time.
The small palomino with her dainty features and cold eyes, grossly pregnant, hobbling over the playground with the contempt most mothers nearly due have. Any minute now, she vows, she will expel this garbage creature from her womb and leave it here to die and suffer and rot.
She does this with all her children, though she'd never hated something so fully as this child.
Magic cloaked the pain of childbirth and pregnancy from her before. She longs - no, NEEDS - her magic back. She is broken and empty and useless without it. She fears (and Harmonia fears nothing) that she will die during childbirth with this monstrosity curling around in her womb.

It's there, pacing the playground, she hears the fairy.
It's as though her prayers have been answered.

"I will," says Harmonia, her voice too excited, too ready to accept this task. She will regain her magic and then...oh, and then! So much she could do to terrorize...
She thinks of the overthrow in Pangea and smiles

"I will carry this burden," she adds, her fake sincerity slipping through the cracks of her smile

They come quicker than expected: a young girl and an old, pregnant mare.
“Isn’t it great to be blue?” She says, kindly, ignoring the child’s question.
“Please!” She says with a smile, turning to the pregnant mare, please take this burden.
She covers them in glitter momentarily as she restores their powers, and then disappears without another word.

Exist and Harmonia have had their powers fully restored, and have 1 BQ year to pass it on (IC) to up to 5 other horses.
