ROMEK
Romek had never thought himself one for romance. In fact, quite the opposite. All of his life he had thought about how he was so unworthy of anything, how he didn’t deserve this-that-the other, and how much of a failure he was, a failure and a loser. And it seemed, now, the stars had aligned perfectly to create a happy little constellation: him, and his Maribel, their three children, the Tundra, his position, coming to terms with his past, pushing for the future. He’d never thought to look at the stars before, until Mari had brought them down for him, and wore them still brightly shining on her skin.
”Always, then.” he says, pressing himself closer to her, his beating heart, his night sky, and warm dawn. He feels sleepy, wrapped tightly in her embrace, his every sense full of her. ”We should do a sleep,” he suggests, with a small smile. No doubt their act of exertion had taken it out of both of them, and he wanted nothing more than to fall asleep beside his woman, and then wake up beside her, every day for all of the future.
