    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    Akkadian
    "Awk-ay-dee-Uhn"
    Bound by honor
Massive walls of ice glared at him cruelly like prison guards come to accept the delinquent with wicked grins and lock him away. Thick vagrant snow groped at his feet, begging to be set free. Brittle bones of winter crunched under his weight with each step. It was a grating sound. And like a deathly black Reaper he flowed forward with a single purpose.

Uncontrollable shudders racked his body. His winter coat was nonexistent, birthed straight from the phoenix sun and sands of another land. This frozen hell would be the death of him. The warrior gritted his teeth and marched on, blistering winds biting his skin.

He was here for one reason, and it was his unwavering honor forcing him across this wretched place, nearly freezing to his death. Even as he halted, with those frozen guards standing over him menacingly, he was not impressed. The place itself was impressive but no, he was not impressed. He couldn't fathom living here, surviving here. A promise he always kept, so here he was.

JOSIE!he called for the glorious mare.

She'd done things to him he hoped he had successfully masked from her with his quick dismissal. He'd had to ignore her, avoid looking at her. She scratched at the scab on his heart, cracked his protective walls. Her radiance and elegance reminded him of home, her exquisite ebony coat matching his perfectly. Their greatest difference was in his mixed blood. Where her lovely face dished gently as the pure Arabian's did, his was flat and solid, a bitter declaration of his bastard lineage.

He said he'd come, so he did. But it would take more than just the friendship of a gentle mare to sway his mind to stay, assuming he could even survive it. And he had since vowed to care for another mare, to protect her and find a suitable home with plenty a stallion to choose from if she wished; to live in peace and safety as he watched over. He had to brush that one from his mind for now though, there were too many confusing emotions attached. He would sort them out after his meeting.

Akkadian stood tall, shadowed tail cut through the bright winter with the current of icey gusts. His hard eyes were trained on the formidable entrance. He did not dare cross the threshold to the kingdom beyond. Like a quivering child his noble person shuddered involuntarily, chilled to the bone, as he waited for her to show.

The ebony mares pelt offered no protection from the white snow that covered the ground, she attempted to slip away from the kingdom in silence. Ready to visit the field, in hopes to recruit another member to the Tundra, her love for her kingdom grew every day and she could not imagine a more suiting life for herself. She was gaining rank in the kingdom, and was becoming more well known amongst her fellow kingdom members.

Her body swayed elegantly as she moved through the snow, she was just about to leave the border when she heard her name be called. She came to a halt and looked around, her ears were perked forward and she scanned the area. The voice was unfamiliar, and her attention drew her towards the caller. As she moved towards the voice she was able to make out a black stallion, her eyes honed in on him and a smile grew on her face. It was the stallion she met in the spring, no autumn? Well it was a while ago, she couldn't recall his name but he sure knew hers.

As she grew near she couldn't hold a smile back, she surely thought he was a member of the Gates since he never came for his visit in the Tundra. Aside from a visit from the strange stallion, she couldn't help but have different feelings towards him with his visit. The last time they met he could care less for her, he didn't pay her any attention, but this time he had a different demeanor. He seemed ready to give her the fair share of his attention, in fact he seemed more focus on staying warm. The stallion was visible cold and a gentle laugh came from her maw. She remembers her first winter, but her body quickly adjusted as she grew a winter pelt. Hello She dipped her head gently towards him Gates not work out for you? she joked, although she really was curious as to why he was here today.

Winter had come and with it came a chance to snuggle close together. Sahm was munching on some grass that had sprouted with a little help of magic. Newton rested his head along the ridgeline of Sahm’s back. Every few moments Newton would shift his head and gently run his muzzle alone his lover’s curves. He inhaled his sweet, comforting scent.

Sahm’s ears perked at the echoing sound of a name. It was not a familiar one so it caught his attention more than usual. He shifted his attention, and swallowed his last few bites of lunch. ”Did you hear that?” Sahm asked.

Newton reluctantly raised his head from his perch with a knowing sigh. ”You know I did.” He said with a shake of his head. Sahm looked back and tapped Newton on the nose. He smiled. ”Okay, Okay..” Newton caved.

The pair set off and soon stumbled upon the black duo. They hadn’t heard any of the previous conversation nor were they aware of their relationship. Sahm and Newton settled side by side before the pair. Sahm nodded his head in polite greeting. ”Good afternoon!” He exclaimed. ”I am Sahm, new to the Tundra, and this is Newton.” He motioned toward the bay roan beside him. Newton awkwardly smiled. ”Hey…I’ve seen you before.” He glanced toward Josie. She had been a member of the Tundra for a while, but she clearly had been far more social than Newton.

    Jord

Jord's orbs looked up at the sky as the tiny specs of snow seamed to fall harder. What am I doing here? She thought. She had not been doing her diplomatic duties as much as she should have and she hated that she was letting herself down. She walked slowly though the snow covered tera, the wind gusted hard, her banner and tassel whipping around her face and legs. She lifter her nose as the wind brought along a scent... Not just any scent; a special one. Its him! Her mind raced as the scent traveled through her nasal passages to her brain. Her orbs dilated.. Its him!! I must get to him! Let him know I know who he is!  She thought, her body kicking into a high gear. Her pistons almost turned her around on a dime as she went into a full gallop following his scent. Her heart raced almost feeling as if it would pound out of her bodice.

Her heavy black pistons fired aggressively, ripping up the cold, hard terra below her. Banner lapping at her neck and face, her banner slightly longer as a year had past since she first came to the crystallized tundra. Her mind was racing as well.. She was having flashbacks.. first meeting him.. that sent... his voice.. it all haunted her, yet drove her to seek more. She knew who he was and she wanted him to know.. Akka.. her brother, her guardian..He had grown so strong since the few small memories she had of him in her childhood, yet so had she. Jord was a gorgeous black friesian mare now.. No longer a little filly, which was probably the last memory he had of her.

The sound of her hooves almost seamed to echo off the mountains around them.. She pushed herself harder wanting to pick up more speed to him, she felt as if she was flying. Tunnel vision.. that's what she had. She needed to see him, speak with him, be close to him again.. yet she prayed to the spirits of her past that he would not fear her. He had already hurt her from fleeing at their last meeting although that was her fault. She lowered her head and let out a deep breath, warm air pushing from her nostrils... She didn't want to startle or disappoint him. He came into view.. she slowed her pace.. He was so handsome... but he was her brother.. She shook her skull hard, disapating those thoughts.

Her orbs also fell upon a mare and two stallions.. already greeting him. She sweated a bit in the cold from her long run, her scent of home growing as the wind blew. She didn't know the other two stations..and she didn't remember meeting the mare either. She stood back to not interrupt, yet could hear them even though there was some distance between her and the group.. Akka... brother.. Her warm vocals spoke.. almost hauntingly yet beautiful.. She waited to see if her brother would come to her, or would she have to make the first move. She hoped she didn't interrupt as she would prefer to speak to her brother alone. She took a deep breath.. her heart beating, her mind nervous. Would he remember her for who she is after all these years.. how would she prove she was alive? He never seamed to listen to her.. he was always pained by her. Jords heart ached. Her orbs closed.. trying to calm her mind. She let a soft, calm smile creep across her maw as the wind cause her banner to lick her bodice again as she opened her hazel orbs, as they gently locked onto her brother, watching.. waiting. Would the sky become clear? Would this apparition dissipate to reality? Jord hoped so.

ooc: so proud of this post! muse is strong!
Toli, please assume that when Jord said "Akka.. Brother" that 'brother' was in their native tounge. Kinda how he called her "akhut' for sister earlier. i ment to ask you the 'word' for brother but i forgot <3
