    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

    "But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    Forcing Two Into One -{Phaedrus Herd, Any,}

    the words she knows the tune she hums

    The Ebony mare remained silent, she followed in the middle of the herd ears pinned to her dome. She was betrayed by a stallion she loved, a stallion she foaled with, he promised to never leave her or let her be harmed. But as every stallion she met, he did not keep his word.

    She gazed around her new 'home' if you could call it that. It was nice, it wasn't the Dale though, the Dale will always be her home, she would never allow another Kingdom to claim her. This stallion had plenty to prove, Zara was so broken and betrayed she would not come easy, she refused to be as willing as some of the mares. She would be strong for those who needed her, she left her blood daughter and adopted daughter in the Dale, she felt physically unable to continue.

    She drooped her head as she looked about with emotional pain, the herd lands carried the scent of plenty of mares. Why did this stallion need more mares? He seemed to have just enough, why did he have to come to Phaedrus' herd, why not another stallions lands.

    The questions ran through her mind, but the fact was, Phaedrus abandoned the herd, he was selfish and she was either to escape or adapt to her new life......with this stallion.

    He follows the winged stallion's herd as they make their way into the Ridge, carefully to keep them away from the more dangerous ridges and cliffs. Njenyi would rather not lose them just as quickly as he'd gotten them.

    As his newly acquired herd merges with his already existing one, he eyes one black mare in particular. She seems fraily built (to the son of a stocky zebra and a draft horse), but does not seem especially weak. She does seem upset, which Njenyi considers a useless emotion. She is safer here than she was with a stallion that did not care for the herd as he should. Clearly she is better off here.

    Cautiously, he steps closer, his head lowered so as to appear not threatening. "What's wrong?" He asks, his voice gravelly from disuse and heavily accented.

    The black mare watched as the herd disbanded exploring the new lands, a few sticking together. She cautiously looked around, remaining pretty distant from any of the other equines. She was quiet, and she was older, but she was smart and could handle herself.

    Of course, the one equine she didn't want to approach her did, the stallion she still didn't have a name to call him by. whats wrong he asks, her face drew emotionless and her body grew warm with anger. How dare he ask such a thing, she was clearly pissed that he came and threw her whole world upside down. Nothing, I am just fine she snorted, he had plenty of other mares to tend to, he needn't waste his time with her. I am curious what it is you plan to do with all these mares Zara was old and she didn't care to play childish games like the younger mares did. She would not have a foal just to keep his attention, no she was here to protect the mares in Phaedrus' herd and no other reason. Her children remained in the Dale, safe, and away from this commotion.

    To say Sirana was not very happy was an understatement. First, almost a year ago, she'd been given away to a herd stallion as part of a deal her sire made without her. Now, she had been taken away from the stallion and was forced to live here? Why couldn't she have had a normal life, back home in the safety of the Falls, continuing to learn the skills of a diplomat from her dam and the trade of a warrior from Raxa, Nitika, Jedi, and the others?

    Because fate was against her that's why.

    The mares of the herd that Sirana had accompanied to the new land finally arrived. Now that she looked around, seeing this territory, a name came to her: the Gemstone Ridge. She'd only ever heard the name, had never seen it in person. This is where the stallion's herd lived? Even if she hated his guts, it was a nice, beautiful place to live.

    The two herds encountered one another, and Sirana was immediately off-put. She did not trust any of these mares, and she did not want the ones she'd come to call her friends anywhere near them. She had a feeling that the stallion's first harem wouldn't like all the new company, especially if a number of them were already fighting for his affection. Why they did so, Sirana did not understand. Not like she cared either.

    The black mare, Zaravich, lowered her head, clearly upset with the surprise fate had dealt them. The amber champagne filly started walking over to the mare she considered a friend, but the stallion beat her to it. Mad at the nerve he had at speaking to Zaravich, considering what he'd recently done, Sirana strode over, snorting angrily at the stallion as she got between him and the black mare.

    She looked at her friend, "Don't waste your time on him Zaravich. He's not going to care anyways," she said, glancing back, using her eyes to send a message to her friend for her to move away.
