    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

She’s been hankering after a fight.

She’s wanted to join the Amazonian army every since she was a little girl. As a young filly, she had heard the stories about the Amazonian sister’s glory and skill in battle, and she had wanted that for her very own. But her mother had forbade it, and even then Lyris had been able to see the wisdom in her words.

Back then, her abilities had been barely, if ever, controlled. She had unintentionally changed the weather with every tiny change in her mood, often times leading to dangerous consequences. In the worst of her tempers she had caused massive storms - sometimes destroying great swathes of the Jungle in her wake. She had not been ready to try taking on her more experienced sisters in practice fights - she could have killed them.

But now, years later, she is ready. She’s learned control.

Her orange-flecked eyes stare down the Falls warrior from across the mocking grounds, trying to analyze the other mare. She’s at a disadvantage here - the silver dapple warrior is full hand taller than herself. Not to mention the fact that, as an actual army member in the Falls, Tyrna likely has more actual battle experience. Her reported abilities could pose an interesting challenge as well - the enhanced strength and werewolf shifting will make her a formidable opponent. Of course, Lyris has her own ability that Tyrna will have to contend with.

She studies the mare for a short time, and then, for lack of any other ideas, charges her. Her hooves hit the hard packed earth of the mocking grounds, accelerating her into a fast canter. As she runs, she aims her left shoulder for Tyrna’s left one. She knows that if she hits, it’s going to hurt both her and her opponent, but hopefully with her smaller height, she will be able to undercut the mare and unbalance her. And if she does manage to knock the mare over, it could be the deciding blow of the battle. Of course, Turna could dodge her, but perhaps the lack of warning for Lyris’ attack will slow her reaction time. Hopefully the fact that she’s refraining from using her powers as of yet will surprise the silver mare as well. There’s actually a calculated reason behind that decision however. She knows how to use her abilities - she’s well practiced at manipulation the weather these days. But what she doesn’t know, is how to fight physically, body against body. And there’s only one way she can learn that - through practice.

After she’s attempted her attack, she continues past the mare to her own right, wheeling away as fast as she can in an attempt to avoid any counter attack. Hopefully she can get away unscathed.

Tyrna watches the smaller mare size her up on the opposite side of the training grounds. The silver mare takes note of the way the amazonian moves and can't help but smile. The familiar thrill and sense of calm she feels before a fight starts to envelope her. A wicked smirk starts to settle on her lips when she feels a less wanted sensation in the pit of her belly. The wolf wants out.

Tyrna lets out a short yip of pain as her bones start to twist and break, reforming into a wholly unnatural shape. Her muzzle shortens and her teeth fall out only to be replaced with large fangs. Her mane recedes and her coat grows longer and shaggier. Her hooves separate into toes and claws. The overall process is no more than thirty seconds but leaves her slightly dazed on her feet when she feels a weight slam into her shoulder, throwing her off balance. Her wolf legs aren't as stable as her horse legs and she gets knocked to the side. One advantage however is that she is able to recover and regain her feet more quickly, her legs have more mobility in this form so the untangling process is easier. Tyrna watches as the appaloosa mare wheels and attempts to run away, as she should, and quickly launches after her.

Tyrna can hear the beast in her head telling her to ripandtearandfeast but this is just a mock so she will do her best to not seriously injure her opponent. She gives chase to Lyris knowing that in a long distance run the mare would win eight times out of ten, but the are in a smaller space and this body can still run. The wolf girl breaks into a sprint, using her extra strength to propel herself faster than others would be able to. It would be  more logical to wait for Lyris to turn around, but the wolf in her eggs her on and tells her to chase and she can't quite break that spell. So she sprints to catch up but gets only about nose to shoulder.

She stays to the side of the Amazon to avoid flailing limbs and attempts to lunge towards her shoulder. The impact would throw both of them off balance but if she managed to knock the amazonian over it would put her in a much more favorable position. If she didn't knock her over it still unbalances the mare slowing her down so that Tyrna didn't have to expend as much effort running. If she missed the shoulder there was a chance she could catch a leg which would be much more detrimental to Lyris, causing injury to the legs.

((OOC: I use the breeding randomiser to determine if Tyrna shifts into a werewolf because I am lazy haha. If two of the numbers are even she turns into an "American werewolf in london"-esque beastie but horse sized though smaller than Tyrna's actual height like 15hh. The numbers I will post below. Thanks! Love you!))

There is a moment, as she charges down the silver mare, that she realizes that something is wrong. She can’t quite put her hoof on it at first, but she feels like she’s missing something. Something important. And then she abruptly realizes that Tyrna is moving.

No. She’s not moving. Her body is changing.

Lyris barely has time to utter a strangled “what the fuck?!” before the mare’s body erupts. And by then it’s too late. The grullo mare doesn’t have any time to register what Tyrna has turned into before her shoulder makes contact. The thing is knocked over and her left shoulder throbs painfully. Lyris’ shock lends speed to her feet as she runs away. What the hell? She slightly angles her head slightly to the left as she runs, so she can get a better look at the mare in her range of vision.

“The hell?!” There, where Tyrna had been standing, is a massive, hairy … thing. It looks a little bit like a very toothy dog. A little bit. And now it’s running after her.

Lyris’ canter automatically turns into a gallop, her prey instincts telling her to get the hell out of there. But the thing is gaining, and she knows it’s going to catch up. And, soon enough it does.

The thing rushes along by her right shoulder, and then suddenly lunges for her. “Shit!” The beast makes impact and Lyris stumbles, both shoulders now throbbing. Her speed slows, and she threatens to topple over - only instinct saves her. She gathers the breezes quickly, and uses them to support herself and keep herself balanced. As it is, she barely manages to keep her feet beneath her. But she does manage.

When she’s properly stabilized, she speeds back into a fast canter, hoping that the thing is a better sprinter than long distance runner. There’s no way for her to know, but she needs to be able to expend some of her concentration on her next attack. Trying this at full speed would be too difficult. At this point anyway.

She reaches upward, letting her fear and adrenalin lend strength to her power. The sky instantly turns black, massive thick clouds rolling in over the sky above. Lightning begins to flicker, and she gathers energy in a single spot high above. Then, she draws it down. She aims the lightning blast at the dirt in front of Tyrna’s feet. Her aim is good, so she shouldn’t hit the beast-mare (she doesn’t want to kill her opponent after all), but the sudden explosion of dirt and heat in front of her should startle the beast and unbalance her again, should it hit true. Potentially even singe her, depending upon how close it is. A good little bit of shock and awe.

Lightning discharged, she continues on at a canter. She doesn’t want to get too close to those teeth and claws.

    ((OOC: I like that! xD))

The blast of lightning is all it takes. Tyrna feels the electricity gathering in the air and it sets her teeth on edge. The fact that she can't see where it's coming from only makes her angrier causing a howl of frustration to ripple from her throat.

Not seconds later she feels the heat and explosion of earth as the lightning zaps the ground in front of her. Blinded by the dirt and, the wolf-girl lunges forward and to the left in an attempt to get clear of the worst of the attack. She feels a sting on her chest and shoulder where she caught some of the bolt and was hit with clumps of earth. All thoughts of holding back disappear with the pain leaving behind only the wolf. She is a predator and her prey is trying to leave.

The lightning was enough to slow her down but the distance between them is paltry in the face of her bloodlust now. If she had been in her normal form it might have even stopped her altogether, but she was currently changed by supernatural means and it pushed her harder than she thought possible. The line between practice and battle has become dangerously blurred in her wolfen mind and she struggles to rein it in even as she thunders after Lyris. Her claws give her some semblance of traction in the chewed up earth and her predatory instincts and strength lend her speed , but she can feel herself tiring. She isn't built for long chases, so with a last spurt of speed she surges forward and her shoulder levels with Lyris' left haunch. The wolf launches towards the Amazonian, claws and fangs outstretched ready for the kill as Tyrna regains control of herself. She manages to pull back the attack but her claws still manage to rake down catching on Lyris' rump or hind leg if she was able to hold back and Lyris was able to avoid the brunt of it.

As her forelegs once more make contact with the ground, Tyrna starts to tremble slightly her exhaustion catching up with her. With a baleful howl she collapses to the ground spasming and growling as her bones break and twist, transforming back to her original form. Once more in equine form she stumbles to her feet shakily, glancing towards where Lyris was cantering off.

Slowly, Tyrna walked towards a central point to meet with the Amazonian after the battle was done. "I am so sorry" the silver whispered, nodding towards the welts on the appaloosa. "Please, the least I can do is fix my mess, if you are willing to follow me to the Falls." Tyrna waits for an answer in shame knowing it might never come.

(ooc: Soo I figured this could be a good transition into another more friendly post if you want!)

    All done btw!
