    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

what makes you laugh, stand apart
Years flew by, years of destruction and rebirth. She had seen it, she had stood by and observed. Losing sight of her friend in the process, though she had lost her home as well. Pyrite had a short lived time in the Falls, but she enjoyed every moment with it because of her friendship with Ygritte. But, what happened, happened, and there was not a thing Pyrite could do about it. So she did what she did best, shake off old feelings and press on with life. Embrace this new Beqanna. It was time to start a new, and create new memories.

She hoped her personality would help her out, well, help out whatever new home she comes to choose. She was always a go-getter. Extremely organized and a bit of a perfectionist, but she makes a good choice for someone to work their way up to a position of organizing things. She has good ideas, and a fun way of getting things done. Though she never saw herself as a leader, she likes to help as much as she possibly can. She was always loyal to her kingdom, but now it's time to help another. Develop new loyalty to her new home.

Small hooves crunch their way along a slippery trodden path through the herdless place, her dark charcoal and black striped body being a stark contrast in the white landscape. This short rounded lady marched on until she came upon the more bustling section of the field. Stormy dark grey-blue eyes gaze round this place. Taking in the sights of the horses that dot the area. She sees recruiters, loners, rivals, budding romances. Things familiar in a new world. She remembers prowling the field back in the old world looking for recruits for the Falls, it feels like just yesterday. Maybe one day soon she will be joining these new recruiters in offering homes to the herdless. But alas, right now she is the one in need. She waits patiently now, she knew it was only a matter of time before someone was caught off guard by her looks. It's probably not every day you see a Zorse.

Well, here I am new world. I am ready for adventure!

Her voice rang out happily with a slightly Zebra sounding "yarp" at the end of her whinny. Her voice was it's usual firm and self-assured tone. Pyrite was always one to look on the bright side and was always eager for a challenge. Surely a sound so peculiar someone was bound to turn her way. Never has her whinny been thought of as normal. Her white whippy tail flicked  eagerly, she could barely wait what this place had in store for her, what this snowglobe held for her future. But, she was ready to find out. She wanted to meet new friends and rivals. Enjoy a new home, and thrive in it.

i'll use you as a makeshift gauge of how much to give and how much to take
For all the appeal of kingdoms’ beautiful scenery, there is something to be said about the constant flood of novelty arriving in Beqanna. There are so many individuals that even a plain dapple grey was striking, and a copper chestnut with no neon strands in her mane is a rarity.

The mare that Ivar watches is no normal horse.

He’d seen her the moment she’d arrived, and has followed her determined march across the snowy Field to reach the bustling crowds in the center. From time to time she disappears behind a taller horse, but he’s always able to find her again. There is no mistaking those stripes – in a solid colored herd of horseflesh they make her stand out rather than blend in as they should.

Midwinter is not his favorite season for socializing, but something about the boldness with which she calls attention to herself draws him in. The black and white stallion slips easily through the crowd, drawing as much attention for his own looks as she does for her stripes. Ivar has already begun to realize why Father prefers to stay hidden in the woods, away from prying eyes.

“Hello there,” he says with an easy smile. Stopped a few paces away, he does his best to give her more than enough space to feel comfortable. “I’m Ivar. What’s your name?”

    face to the sun

It is the kind of winter day that makes Tang love winter. The blue of the sky is the sort of blue you can only see on a clam and cold day like this – brilliant, pure, endless. The air feels as if a sharp whinny could crack it and the snow is fresh and new.

It is only the second time the honey and cream mare has ventured to The Field, but the first time had become a day she will never forget.  A little over a year ago on a blazing autumn evening she had stood with the wind tangling her black mane and her body quivering with excitement. This time, as she enters the grassland, the memory of her exuberance is palpable.  Her stride lengthens, it doesn’t take long before she is nearing the more populated center of the field.

She doesn’t intend to stop, it is about time she returned to Hyaline. But on a day like this it just feels good to run. Her gaze floats lazily across the different types of equine gathered as she moves, but it is not her eyes which ask her to stop and investigate, it is her ears.

A young mare’s voice drifts across the still air and snow to Tang and she can’t hide the smile that brightens her features. The words she speaks remind Tang very much of the feelings she had felt in this same place a year ago.

A change of plans never bothered Tangerine, so she decides today is a good day to meet someone new. They grey mare had a magnetic vitality that Tang was drawn to, Hyaline, Amet, could use someone like her.

Tang stops beside the scaled boy, who has already greeted the mare and offers them both the friendly smile which comes naturally to her. She gives the striped grey a moment to respond before she too greets her. “And I’m Tang.” Her words come out with a white cloud of her breath, her body being warmed from her run. “It is a beautiful day for an adventure.”
