    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

I will face god and walk backward into hell; RESULTS
    #1

    and lord, I fashion dark gods too;

Most of them, at heart, are killers. He watches and laughs as the blood spills. His lair reeks of it, the bittersweet scent of fear and fury and death, and the creations fall. Children and lovers and parents. One girl stays, loveless, and he will have her, for awhile, but she is released soon enough when he grows bored. One girl is noble, stupidly so, chooses to end her own life rather than that of what he’s given her. He revives her, sends her back. Killing them is too easy – it’s more fun to make them live with what they’ve done.

But they have done well for him, provided him entertainment in their woes, and so he gives these final six a token of thanks, another inescapable memory of their time spent here. Scars and brands and now powers, too.

To Dynast, who loved nothing, he gives immortality- let her live forever like this, with the memories of her time spent in the lair.
To Feast, the prince of Carnage’s own sunken kingdom, the dark god saw a particular penchant for death, and so he gives this boy blight, to make anywhere a wasteland.
To Ellyse, whom some of the men would die for, yet, when asked for what she loves most it is not their faces who appear – he gives diamond armor generation. Beautiful and hard and impenetrable.
To Dahmer, who had lost so much, who had acted noble yet had ended up tasting his own son’s final breaths, he gives raven shifting. The man is a monster now; let him mimic one of those monsters he faced.
To Diorae, who came to him as a gift, a wolf’s paw burned upon her hide, he gives lion shifting. Let the cat return to her dog now.
To Zephyr, who chose to sacrifice herself rather than harm another, he is almost kind. He gives her dragon vision, restoring her sight and improving on it, besides.

And then – it is done. He sets them free, and with no words, he is gone. They will discover their powers soon enough, and they will carry the dark god with them from now on.
And who knows? Perhaps he’ll see them again, someday.

    NOTES:

Congrats on finishing and partaking in wrecking your horses. I loved reading your novels. Carnage has let everyone go, with all the accompanying scars and new traits. Ladies, if you want to say your mare got pregnant by him in this quest and post stats next breeding season, you’re welcome to.

All the traits received are genetic. Please post an update for the defect you assumed while going into the oasis, and your new trait.

If you have any questions, PM me.

    Thank you all for playing!
